PERKINS was born at his present home in Graves County, Ky., March 1, 1847, and has all his life resided in the same place. His father, Wright Perkins, a native of Williamson County, Tenn., was born in 1814, came to Graves County, Ky., in 1837, and here died in 1848. He was for many years a deacon in the Primitive Baptist Church. His father, Eben, of North Carolina, died in this county, in 1850. Wright Perkins' wife was Mary C., daughter of Peter and Comfort (Beard) Brown, of Williamson County, Tenn., and their children are Francis W., Milena E. (Seaver), James A., William H., John M. and Mary W. (Seaver). Our subject was favored with a good English education, and was engaged in teaching school for about eight years. He was married August 29, 1872, to Miss Winifred D., daughter of John A. and D.E. (Rodgers) McNeill, of Graves County, and to them have been born Cordelia M., Lemuel, Prudie (deceased), Milena and Herbert. In 1873 Mr. Perkins was licensed to preach by the North Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church, and the following year was ordained to the full work of the ministry, by the laying on of hands of the presbytery, composed of Elders W.W. Worrell, T.S. Dalton and T.F. Harrison, of Soldier Creek Association. He has been a pastor of Pilgrim's Rest, Kan., Soldier Creek, North Mount Zion, Harmony, New Hope and Mount Pleasant churches. He is engaged in farming, and is in politics a Democrat.
