POWELL, a native of Henderson County, Ky., was born April 2, 1836, and came with his parents, in 1848, to his present place of residence in Graves County. In youth he procured a good English education, and is taking an active interest in the education of his children in literature and music. On November 29, 1866, he was married to Miss Elizabeth E., daughter of William B. and Martha (Whitis) Adams, of Graves County, and to them have been born Lorenzo D., Mary C. and Albert L. William B. Adams' parents were Edmund and Elizabeth (Hammons) Adams. Subject is a farmer, owning 180 acres of good land in a high state of cultivation, on which he successfully raises wheat, corn and live stock. He is also a mason, burning and making his own brick.
