ROBBINS was born August 4, 1854, in Graves County, and is a son of Thomas and Elizabeth (Shelton) Robbins. The father was born in Humphreys County, Tenn., and died February 14, 1873, aged sixty-two. The mother was born in Butler County, Ky., in 1820 and resides in Wingo; her father, Jeremiah Shelton, came to Graves County in 1820, and built a small log-cabin near Mayfield. He then moved to Weakley County, Tenn., and officiated as a Primitive Baptist preacher. J.E.
