THOMAS was born September 14, 1854, in Warren County, Mo., and is a son of John W. and A. (Camp) Thomas. The father was born in Warren County, Ky., and died in 1854. The mother died in 1881 at the age of sixty. Dr. Thomas was reared in Missouri and in 1870 went to Lexington, Ky., where he attended the university for one year, after which he went to St. Louis, and clerked in a store in that city until 1875, when he came to Mayfield and began the study of medicine under the preceptorship of Dr. R.H. Fristoe. After two years of study he returned to St. Louis, and attended the medical college there for one term; thence went to Nashville, where he attended the medical college and graduated in 1878 with the highest honors of the class, and for his proficiency in all the branches taught in the college was presented with a fine gold medal. After completing his studies he came to Graves County, since which time he has practiced his profession with marked success, and has resided in Mayfield since 1881. Dr. Thomas was married in 1878 to Miss Fannie A. Carney, of Graves County, by whom he has two children. Dr. and Mrs. Thomas are members of the Christian Church.
