MARGARET CRENSHAW, P. O. Cynthiana, is the widow of Henry Crenshaw, who was born in Virginia in 1802, and died in 1879. He was the son of John and Hannah (Madison) Crenshaw, who came to Kentucky, at an early day, from Virginia, he dying in 1855. They have had five sons and four daughters. Mr. Crenshaw, the husband of the lady who name heads this sketch, was educated in the district schools of his native county, and began life in moderate circumstances; was a carpenter by occupation, but subsequently began farming, and, at the time of his death, owned nearly four hundred acres of land. He was a Democrat. June 15, 1854, he married Miss Margaret Allen, who was born in Woodford County, Ky., Nov. 8, 1812, daughter of John and Alice (McKay) Allen; he, born in Virginia, Dec. 17, 1765, and dying Sept. 4, 1847; she, born Feb. 1, 1772, and dying May 3, 1815. Mrs. Crenshaw is a Presbyterian, and owns a handsome residence in Cynthiana, where she lives.
