RICHARD WEBB was born in Henry County, Ky., August 28, 1821.  He is the
youngest of four sons and two daughters born to Waller and Hannah (Young)
Webb.  His father was a native of Essex County, Va., born April 19, 1776.
He came to Kentucky when a young man, and settled in Henry County, where he
resided until his death, September 10, 1854.  He was a member of the
Missionary Baptist Church, and one of the prominent citizens of his day.
His mother was born in Nelson County, January 1, 1785.  She was a member
of the Missionary Baptist Church, and always a devout Christian.  She died
in Henry County, September 19, 1846.  His paternal grandfather, William
Webb, was a native of Essex County, Va., born in 1741.  He came to Kentucky
in an early day, and settled in Henry County where he died, June 15, 1827,
and was among the early pioneers of Kentucky.  His maternal grandfather,
Bryan Young, was a native of Virginia, and for many years a surveyor of
Nelson County.  Our subject passed his early life on the farm, and after
the death of his father was engaged in settling up the estate.  He was
united in marriage in 1867 with Mary Jones, an estimable and cultured lady
of Gallatin.  Three sons and six daughters were born to their union:
Clarence, Charles (deceased) and Dick, Ida, Martha (deceased), Ula, Inez,
Hannah and Sophia.  Mr. Webb was formerly a Whig, but since the
organization of the Democratic party has cast his vote in its favor.  He
has a well cultivated farm in Henry COunty, near Campbellsburg, containing
250 acres of land.
