Lawyers and Lawmakers of Kentucky, by H. Levin, editor, 1897. Published by Lewis Publishing Company, Chicago. Reprinted by Southern Historical Press. p. 87. Jefferson County. HENRY C. WOOD, of the court of appeals, was born at Munfordville, Hart county, November 27, 1821, and died in Louisville, February 11, 1861. He graduated at Center College, Danville, in 1841, and entered on the practice of law in his native county, meeting on the circuit such lawyers as J. R. Underwood, Elijah Hise and others of great ability. He was county attorney for Hart county, and representative in the legislature in 1848. In 1850 he removed to Louisville, and was associated with William F. Barrett, taking rank as one of the leading lawyers of that city. He was elected to the court of appeals bench from the Louisville district in August, 1858, for a term of eight years, and died in office. He was of delicate physique, but of great energy, working with untiring zeal. His decisions display profound research.
