Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 5th ed., 1887, Jessamine Co. GEORGE W. GRAY was born in Clark County, N. C., February 22, 1839, and is the third son of Alfred and Mary (Crawford) Gray. He was reared on a farm and educated at the common schools, moved to Kentucky in 1863, and settled in Jessamine County. In 1865 he commenced distilling, and now owns the old Gray Distillery at Sulphur Well, Jessamine County, also carries on farming extensively, and gives employment to quite a number of hands. He was married June 15, 1865, to Margaret Hunter, of Jessamine County, daughter of Henry and Maria (Fin) Hunter. Six children have blessed this union: Texas A., Ida Be., Lueder, Mary, Willia A. and George H. Mr. Gray is a member of the Baptist Church, while his wife is a member of the Methodist Church South.
