HUTCHISON is a son of George and Rosanna (Pogue) Hutchison, natives of Bourbon and Fayette Counties, Ky. His maternal grandfather was Henry Pogue, and his maternal grandmother was Elizabeth (McCord) Pogue. George Hutchison, father of James H., was born in 1803; his wife, Rosanna, was born in 1802, and died in 1878, leaving three children: Mary (Mrs. William Beard, of Missouri), Emma (Mrs. William Howard, of Missouri) and James. The paternal grandparents of James H., Andrew and Mary (McPheters) Hutchison, were natives of Virginia and came to Bourbon County, Ky., when quite small. They were the he parents of seven children, viz.: George, Jane (Mrs. David McKee), Alexander, Ann (Mrs. Henry McKee), James, Andrew and Mary (Mrs. William Trabue). In 1855 Andrew Hutchison died leaving an estate of 600 acres. James H. Hutchison was born November 24, 1845, and was reared and educated in Woodford County. At the age of nineteen he assumed charge of the home farm, which he conducted until 1882, when he removed to Jessamine County, and purchased his present place of 160 acres on the Troy and Keene Turnpike. In 1866 he married Miss Malvina, daughter of Silas and Nancy (Scoot) Mahin, and to this union have been born the following children: Mary E., (Mrs. W. A. Smith), Angia H., George W., Silas W., Charles P., Maggie M. and Berrie Hunter.
