Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 5th ed., 1887, Jessamine Co. JOHN RICHARDSON was born in Garrard County, Ky., February 2, 1818. His father was born in Virginia in 1788, and was a blacksmith by trade, which he always followed, together with farming. He moved to Missouri when John was ten years old, and, disliking the State, he turned his wagon around and came back to Garrard County, remained eight months, then moved to Jessamine County and died there in 1862. John Richardson was married in 1836 to Amanda Sageser, of Jessamine County, daughter of Frederick and Katie (Bruner) Sageser, both deceased. His wife died eleven months after she was married. One child blessed this union--Amanda, married to John Sageser. Mr. Richardson was married again, in 1846 to Almina Hurt, of Garrard County, daughter of Nathan and Elizabeth (Davis) Hurt. To this union two children were born: Amos and Baley. Mr. Richardson has 143 acres of land in Sulphur Well District, ten miles south of Nicholasville.
