A History of Masonry in Madison County, Kentucky 1812-1913, compiled and written by Robert R. Burnam, 1914, p. 82. DORLAND P. ARMER was born in Gallipolis, Ohio, in 1843 and died in Richmond, Indiana, in 1910. He came to Richmond shortly after the close of the war and engaged in the jewelry business. He was a soldier in the Federal Army and toward the close of his life drew a pension for services. He was a brave, honorable man and during his life in Richmond had many friends. He served the County as magistrate for many years and the County never had a better one. He petitioned Richmond Lodge June, 1867 and received all the degrees during the summer of that year. The Order had a great attraction for him and he became thoroughly enthusiastic. He received the Chapter degrees in 1869 and the orders of Knighthood in Webb Commandery in 1873. He was elected Master December, 1874, after having served in subordinate positions. Was four times High Priest of Richmond Royal Arch Chapter. He was the moving spirit in the organization of Richmond Commandery and became its first Commander. He was at one time on the line in the Grand Commandery, or it might be more appropriate to say he filled the station of Standard Bearer in the Grand Commandery in 1881, because the line as it is now was unknown then, the officers changing every year. He was buried with the honors of the Order in the Richmond cemetery and from the Asylum of Richmond Commandery. Armer = Gallia-OH Wayne-IN http://www.rootsweb.com/~kygenweb/kybiog/madison/armer.dp.txt
