A History of Masonry in Madison County, Kentucky 1812-1913, compiled and written by Robert R. Burnam, 1914, p. 96. SAMUEL PHELPS DEATHERAGE sprung from pioneer stock on both sides of his family, was born in Madison County, December 22, 1855. He received his scholastic training at the best schools of his native County, completing his education at Central University. His boyhood and early manhood was spent on a farm; later he became associated with one of the banks of Richmond and his business career has been largely in that line. He was made a Mason December, 1890, passed February, 1891, and raised March, 1891. Received the degrees of the Chapter during 1891 and was Knighted the same year. He was elected Master December, 1893, after having served as both Junior and Senior Warden. He was elected Eminent Commander in 1894. He is deservedly popular with all who know him. He married Miss Turley, who with an only daughter, constitute his family. Deatherage Turley = none http://www.rootsweb.com/~kygenweb/kybiog/madison/deatherage.sp.txt
