Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 3rd ed., 1886. Metcalfe County. DAVID N. MORGAN was born August 1, 1841, in Monroe County, Ky., and at the age of twenty years removed to Metcalfe County, where he still resides. He was married, January 3, 1867, to Mary F., daughter of Matthew and Nancy H. (Huffman) Branstetter. To them have been born Arenie B., Virgil, Minnie A. and Claudius. His father, Henry A. Morgan, was born in North Carolina. For particulars of genealogy, see sketch above. David N. attended the schools of his neighborhood and acquired a good English education. By industry, economy and perseverance he has become the owner of about 170 acres of productive land and has one of the best orchards in the county, having 1,300 apple trees and other fruit trees in proportion. He is a farmer, a Baptist, a thoroughly self-made man, and in politics is an independent Republican, who votes for the man rather than for the party for local offices.
