GEE was born December 28, 1842, in Monroe County, in the house where he grew up and where he still resides. His father, John B. Gee, was born June 20, 1801. He was a son of James and Lucy Gee, of Virginia, and James Gee was a son of Jesse and Lucy (Penington) [sic] Gee. John B. Gee married, June 8, 1820, Anna, daughter of William Sims, of Monroe County. From this union sprang WIlliam J., Lucy J. (Williams), Elizabeth J. (Hutchens), Hall S. and Mary A. R. (McMillin), Sarah E. (deceased), Sack J., Almarinda A., John B., and Thornton H. The last named married, March 24, 1885, Ella, daughter of Marquis and Laura L. (Lewis) Williams, of Monroe County, who was born June 16, 1869. William Sims was a son of John and Sapphira Sims and was born in Virginia. Mr. Gee started about even in the race of life, but by untiring industry has become the owner of well improved and productive land in good condition and a fine state of cultivation, to the amount of 125 acres. He is a member of Hill's Chapel Christian Church. He is a self-made man and in politics is a Democrat.
