Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 6th ed., 1887, Oldham Co. REV. JACOB DITZLER, a divine of the Methodist Episcopal Church, was born in Oldham County, Ky., January 10, 1831, and is a son of George T. and Mary A. (Martin) Ditzler, natives of Virginia. He was reared on the home farm, and received his education at Hanover College. At the age of twenty-eight he began preaching the gospel, and is widely known throughout the South as a preacher, lecturer and author of more than ordinary ability. His sympathies were with the South during the late struggle, and in 1864 he crossed the Atlantic in behalf of the Confederacy. In 1870 he married Miss Florence Howell, daughter of Capt. David and Ann R. Howell, of Montgomery County, Ky. To this union have been born four children: Estelle, Mary M., Annette and Florence. Mr. Ditzler resides upon his farm of 120 acres near Goshen.
