Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 6th ed., 1887, Oldham Co. SARAH E. GLASS was born in 1813 in Oldham County, Ky. Her father was Thomas White, who came from Virginia to Oldham County, Ky., when it was a wilderness. She was married in 1834 to Samuel Glass, of Shelby County, Ky., but a native of Scott County, and of Virginian ancestry. Mr. Glass was one of the oldest and best men in the county at the time of his death, and had been through life a consistent Christian. He died on his eightieth birthday in 1884. To their union were born four children: Samuel D., Sallie, Lyle J., Ed. Glass and Emma (Hocker). Samuel D. was born in 1840, and has never married; he followed farming during the greater part of his life, but for the past few years has lived retired. He is a member of the Presbyterian Church. Ed. Glass, now of St. Paul, Minn., is engaged in the lumber business; he was married in 1859 to Josie Malone, daughter of Louis Malone, of Shelby County. Emma Glass was married in 1873 to W. H. Hocker, of Lincoln County, Ky. He was born in 1850, and is a member of the Presbyterian Church. To them have been born two children: Lyle and Sarah. Mrs. Hocker is also a member of the Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Glass is descended from a family, who has always been noted in private and public life.
