Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 6th ed., 1887, Oldham Co. MARSHALL NEAL is a native of Oldham County, and was born November 9, 1830. Fielding Neal, his father, was also a native of Oldham County, and married Miss Maria Marshall, of Woodford County. John Neal, the grandfather of Marshall Neal, was a farmer, and a veteran of the Revolution, who came from Virginia in 1796 and located in Woodford County, Ky., moved to Jefferson and finally settled in Oldham County. Marshall Neal has always been a farmer, and now owns 500 acres of well improved land near Ballardsville. He was first married, in 1850, to Miss Martha Long, who died in 1853. He next married Miss Amelia Long, a sister of his deceased wife, in 1856, and this lady died in 1866, leaving five children: Thomas, Robert, Newton, Sallie and Belle. Mr. Neal's third marriage was in 1868 to Miss Nannie Arnold, and to this union two children have been born: Fannie and Perry.
