Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 6th ed., 1887, Oldham Co. JESSE POTTS, a native of Oldham County, Ky., was born March 25, 1816. His father, Thomas Potts, was born in that part of Jefferson County, Ky., which was afterward absorbed by Oldham, and married Miss Polly Roney, of Kentucky. The grandfather of Jesse Potts, John Potts, was born in Ireland, married a Miss Akins, of the same nativity, and on coming to America first located in Virginia, but subsequently came to Oldham County, Ky. Jesse Potts is the eldest of four brothers, all farmers, and owns 525 acres in Oldham County, where he resides, and 220 acres in Shelby Co. On March 8, 1846, he married Miss Elizabeth, daughter of William H. and Jane (Wasson) Hunter, of Shelby County. Mr. Potts is a member of the Methodist Church South at LaGrange, and is a Democrat in politics.
