WILLIAMS is a native of Shelby County, born June 6, 1841, and is a son of Fleanin and Julia (Michael) Williams, native Kentuckians of Virginian ancestry. He remained on the home farm in Shelby County until twenty-five years of age, and then worked as a carpenter until 1871, when he moved to Oldham County, and bought and settled on a five-acre lot in Ballardsville. December 18, 1867, he married Lucy McAlister, daughter of Samuel and Mary (Benton) McAlister, natives of Virginia and Kentucky respectively. Mrs. Lucy Williams departed this life in August, 1881, leaving two children: Mary S. and Joseph F.
