Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., 1887, Owen Co. JOHN C. B. FOSTER, M. D., was born in Owen County, Ky., August 23, 1852, and is a son of Warren and Barbara (Bourne) Foster. Warren Foster, a farmer and stock raiser, was born in Owen County about 1830. In 1851 he married Miss Barbara Bourne, daughter of Col. John Bourne, of Owen County. The latter was a soldier of the war of 1812. Warren Foster died at the age of twenty-five, leaving his wife and one son, J. C. B., the subject of this sketch. The paternal grandfather, Foster, was a native of Kentucky, and died at an old age. After the death of her first husband, Mrs. Barbara Foster married Rev. Louis H. Saline, who had previously been converted from the Jewish to the Baptist faith. Three children were the result of this union: Eugene M., Morton B., and William B. Louis H. Saline is still living at the age of sixty, and his wife at the age of fifty-two. The maternal grandfather of our subject, Bourne, was a native of Culpeper County, Va. John C. B. Foster was reared in Owen County, where he received his early education, and attended college at Georgetown, Ky., where he graduated. He then attended lectures at the Louisville Medical College, graduated in 1876, and settled in Monterey, Owen County, where he engaged in the practice of his profession. In 1877 he married Miss Hallie Duvall, daughter of W. B. Duvall, of Owen County, and two children have been born to this union: Allie and Sallie. Mr. Foster is a Democrat and a Mason.
