Kinman was reared and educated in Owen County, and worked at farming until 1878, when he married Miss Hester A. Cork, of Grant County, and then engaged in hotel keeping at Lusby's Mill. By political preference Mr. Kinman is a Democrat, and, together with his kinsmen, is interested in the material prosperity of Owen County.
