JAMES BARNETT was born in Shelby County, Ky., February 19, 1823, the eldest of five sons and seven daughters born to John and Emily (Bryant) Barnett. His father was a native of Virginia, came to Kentucky when a young man, and settled on a farm in Shelby County, where he resided until 1839, then removed to Henry County, where he died in 1867, in his sixty-ninth year. Mrs. Emily Barnett was a native of Shelby County, and died about 1847. Our subject's paternal grandfather, Samuel Bryant, was a native of Virginia, came to Kentucky at an early day, and settled in Shelby County, where he died. James Barnett has always been engaged in agricultural pursuits, and has a well cultivated farm of 140 acres in Turner's Precinct. He was united in marriage in 1859 with Margaret Clark, of Henry County, and the birth of four sons and three daughters blessed their union: William, Saul, Elias, Arthur, Nancy, Lucy and Martha (deceased). Politically Mr. Barnett is a Democrat. Barnett Bryant Clark = Henry-KY VA http://www.rootsweb.com/~kygenweb/kybiog/shelby/barnett.j.txt
