BLAYDES, farmer, was born in Shelby County, June 12, 1833, and is one of seven living children born to Frances and Sarah Blaydes. The eldest living child is Mildred, wife of James Scarce, who had eight children: Letitia (Tissie), Mary J., Sallie, Tom, William, Bettie, Belle and Walter; Jane married J. Radford, and had five children: John W., Richard, Lou, Nannie and Charles; Polly married Anderson Kent and had nine children: Robert, John, Henry, James, Nannie, Mary, Mildred, Flora and Cordelia; John married Nancy Cash and had six children: John, Shelby, James, George, Jerry and Mattie; W. D. married Mary E. Watkins, of Henry County, Ky., May 18, 1865, and had nine children: Francis L., Effie S., Gertrude, Kate, Myrtle, Pingree, Rufus D., Charlotte and Grove C.; Jerry married Susie Webber and had five children: Mattie, William, Robert, Porter and Joseph. Francis M. the next child was never married. He owns 155 acres, and makes his home with his brother, W. D. Mr. Blaydes is a gentleman of pleasing manners, and is held in high esteem by all who know him.
