Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 6th ed., 1887, Shelby Co. THOMAS M. LYONS, agent for the Louisville & Nashville Railroad, and dealer in groceries and general merchandise at Simpsonville, was born at Springfield, Ky., June 1, 1848, and is a son of James C. and Emily (Parrott) Lyons, natives of Kentucky, who were married about 1838, and had born to their union five children--three daughters and two sons--Thomas M. being the youngest. He was reared and received his education principally at Springfield. In 1868 he entered the mercantile business at Simpsonville and remained there until 1871, at which time he removed to Dallas, Tex., and remained there one year, when he returned to Simpsonville and again engaged in business, where he has since been. December 20, 1869, he married Louisa Hollingsworth, daughter of James and Martha (Mount) Hollingsworth, natives of Kentucky. To this union was born one daughter, Lula. Mrs. Louisa Lyons died October 22, 1870, and Mr. Lyons next married February 10, 1870 [sic], Miss Imogene Webb, daughter of Enoch and Nancy (Webb) Webb, natives of Kentucky. To this union have been born three children: Wade C., Cleveland and Leevoris. Mr. Lyons is a member of the Baptist Church, and his wife of the Methodist Episcopal Church South.
