Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 6th ed., 1887, Shelby Co. JAMES A. MONEY, farmer and stock grower, was born in Green County, Ky., December 30, 1819, and was the second of two children born to James and Mary (Fox) Money, the mother a native of Virginia. James Money, Sr., was a son of James Money, who came from Virginia to Kentucky at an early date and first settled in Fayette County, but soon afterward moved to Green County. He reared a family of ten children, and died in Green County in the early part of this century. Our subject's father was born and reared on a farm, and all his life devoted his attention to agricultural pursuits and working at the carpenter's trade. About 1815 he married Mary Fox of Clark County, Ky., and had born two sons: Milton V. and James A. About 1820 he died and his widow and two children then moved to Clark County where they remained until 1850. They then moved to Shelby County and settled near where our subject now resides. The mother died about 1879. Our subject first purchased 100 acres of land and settled where he now resides in 1854 and now owns 347 acres of valuable land. February 7, 1847, he married Sarah E. Williams, daughter of Original R. and Nancy (Robinson) Williams of Clark County. To this union were born three daughters and seven sons, viz.: John T., William R., Mary C., Joseph R., Virginia, Nancy M., Annie M. Reuben B., Clarence M. and Thomas D., one of whom is dead, Nancy N. Mr. and Mrs. Money became members of the Baptist Church about 1870. In politics he is neutral.
