Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 6th ed., 1887, Shelby Co. JOHN C. REASOR, of Shelbyville, is a native of Bavaria, Germany, born August 1, 1851, and is a son of Frederick and Elizabeth (Westerman) Reasor, natives of the same country. Frederick Reasor was born in 1797, and was a shoemaker by trade; he served as a soldier in Napoleon Bonaparte's army, and came to this country about 1857. His death occurred in 1868. John C. Reasor first settled in Shelbyville in 1858. He was clerk in a hotel until 1862. He then went to Louisville, learned the trade of barber, and returned to Shelbyville in 1868. In 1868 he married Miss Anna Fotch, a native of Louisville. This lady died July 2, 1879, leaving two children: Anna C. and Elizabeth (deceased when only a few weeks old). On the 15th of June, 1880, Mr. Reasor married Miss Levina Jeffs, a native of Shelby County, and daughter of Robert G. and Elizabeth Jeffs, natives respectively of Boyle and Shelby Counties, and to this union have been born three children: Dillard G., Lydia E. and William G. In 1882 Mr. Reasor was appointed deputy United States marshal under Col. A. J. Auxier, and after serving with marked ability for two years and nine months resigned. Following is the response to his letter of resignation: "Louisville, Ky., January 29, 1885. John C. Reasor--My dear sir: I received your resignation as deputy United States marshal, and with much regret accept the same. I will always esteem you as one of my fast friends, and ready and active workers. Your truly, A. J. Auxier, United States marshal." Mr. Reasor has been prosperous in life, and now owns five good houses in Shelbyville. He is a member of the U.O.O.W.
