ERNEST TYLER, a farmer residing in Shelby County, two miles west of Simpsonville, was born in Fulton County, Ky., March 21, 1860, and is the only child of Thomas A. and Fannie (Scarce) Tyler. Thomas A. Tyler was the fourth of nine children born to James P. and Mary (Willis) Tyler, early settlers in Kentucky. Ernest Tyler was reared on the farm, and has followed agriculture from boyhood. He was taken to Shelby County in 1863 by his mother, who settled near where he now resides in Simpsonville Precinct. His father died in Fulton County, July 20, 1860, when Ernest was but an infant. Our subject received his education at East Cedar Hill Institute in Jefferson County, Ky. He settled where he now resides in 1884, and has 430 acres of well improved land. November 16, 1881, he was married to Mary E. Walters, the daughter of Harry and Sallie E. Walters, a very prominent family of Shelby County. To this union one daughter has been born, Corinne. My Tyler is a member of the Baptist Church and his wife of the Christian Church. Politically he is a Democrat.
