McGEHEE, merchant and farmer, was born November 9, 1844, in Todd County; his parents were John and Julia A. (Pendleton) McGehee, natives of Virginia. The father is living in this county, and engaged in farming; the mother died June, 1879. Our subject began for himself on the farm at the age of twenty-one; he worked two years on his mother-in-law's farm, and attended land of his own also; he lived at Bivinsville one year, and came to his present location in 1869, he owns 156 acres of land where he now resides; he keeps a store of dry goods and groceries, where he does a good business for a country store; he enlisted in the Union Army in 1863, and served about seventeen months; he took part in the battles of Saltworks and Slaughterville, besides many dangerous skirmishes; he was much impaired in health while in the service, owing to exposure. He was married to Lizzie E., daughter of Thomas and Philadelphia (Young) Taylor. They were married in 1866. These parents have five children, viz.: Charles W., Dora, Lucien A., Horace and Nannie L.
