T. J. MITCHELL was born August 5, 1848, in Trigg County.  He is a son of
James and Martha (Alexander) Mitchell, who were also born in Trigg County.
Mr. Mitchell, Sr., followed the cooper trade when young.  T. J. took up
this trade when a boy and still carries on this business; he is also
operating a portable saw-mill and engaged in farming.  In the fall of 1978
he removed to this farm, which he owns, consisting of 116 acres.  Mr.
Mitchell was married February 25, 1868, to Miss R. Bell Hawkins; she was
born in Trigg County.  Seven children have blessed this union--five sons
and two daughters.
