Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 6th ed., 1887, Trimble Co. WILLIAM R. LOGAN, circuit court clerk, is a native of Trimble County, Ky., born July 23, 1851, the only child of Ben H. and Louisa (Colbert) Logan, natives of Shelby and Trimble Counties. He is a descendant of Col. Ben Logan, who came from Shelby to Trimble County and settled on the Little Kentucky River many years ago, served in the State Legislature in 1848, and was for many years justice of the peace. William R.'s father, Ben H., was a millwright by trade, enlisted in Col. Richard T. Jacob's regiment in 1861, and died in 1862. William R. Logan received his preliminary education at the schools in Trimble County, and afterward attended the college at Millersburg, Ky. He taught school from 1872 to 1880; in the latter year was elected circuit court clerk, was re-elected in 1886, and is also acting as trustee of the "jury fund". He is a Knight of Pythias and an Odd Fellow, and has passed all the chairs of the latter order. He is the only surviving member of his family.
