HINTON, Warren County, was born in Allen County in 1842, and is a son of John and Fannie (McElroy) Hinton, of English origin. The father was a native of North Carolina, and came with his parents to Allen County, Ky., in early childhood. Subject was educated in Allen County, at the old "Rough and Ready" schoolhouse. He is now manager of the county poor-farm of Warren County, and has in his charge some forty or more inmates. He was a soldier in the late war in the Federal Army, under Col. J. M. Grider and Capt. J. M. Billinglsey, and participated in a number of battles and skirmishes, among them, Bell's Mines, and Grubb's Cross-roads. Mr. Hinton is a member of the Baptist Church, of the Masonic fraternity, and of the Democratic party.
