VALENTINE JOHNSON, a native of Germany, was born in 1836, and is a son of Valentine and Maragaret (Schaffer) Johnson. The parents were also born in Germany, and lived and died there; the mother in 1874 and the father in 1884. Valentine received a good education at the German schools. In 1850 he came to America and landed at New Orleans, La., where he resided for some time and then removed to Louisville. In 1854 Mr. Johnson came to Bowling Green, and here has since resided. He is a carpenter and builder, and is now connected with Forbes Bros., of this city, as their superintendent of erection. For about twenty years he has also been engaged in the floral business, and is the leading florist of this city. The marriage of Mr. Johnson took place in April, 1858, with Augusta Fleenor, of Virginia. They have one child, viz., Roland V. Mr. Johnson is a Democrat, belongs to the I. O. O. F. and the K. of H.
