Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 3rd ed., 1886. Warren County. ELIJAH B. PARKER was born October 30, 1840, in Barren County, Ky., where he grew to manhood. At the age of twenty-one years he removed to Warren County, where he has since resided. His father, Joseph Parker, was born in Virginia, in 1809, and when a young man moved to Kentucky, and located in Hart County, and later in Barren County, where he now resides. He has been twice married; first, about 1835, to Mrs. Mary A. Hall, daughter of David Allen. From this union sprang William J., Sarah F. (Gains), Robert A., Elijah B. and John. His second marriage took place in 1845, with Nancy, daughter of James Monroe. From this union one daughter - Elizabeth P. - grew to womanhood. Elijah B. married, February 15, 1866, Mary F., daughter of Silas and Kitty (Neagle) Toll. To them have been born Marion F., Catherine (deceased), Joseph S., Ada P., Mary A., Sarah F. (deceased) and Elizabeth P. Mr. Parker started in life about even with the world, but by industry, economy and perseverence he has become the owner of over 200 acres of well improved and productive land in a fine state of cultivation. He began life as a farmer, and in 1865 bought a flouring-mill, which he operated for six years. He then bought the farm where he now resides, and which he has since cultivated. He has been, since his nineteenth year, a devoted and earnest member of the Methodist Church, of which his wife and three children are also members. Neither he nor his son have ever used tobacco in any form, nor has he ever allowed any alcoholic liquors to be used in his family, except when prescribed by the family physician. Mr. Parker takes a great intrest in the education of his children, giving them many of the advantages of which he was deprived. Politically he is Democrat.
