Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 5th ed., 1887, Woodford Co. DAVIS W. EDWARDS was born September 1, 1826, and is the second son of Fielding and Jane (Wright) Edwards. Fielding Edwards was born in Virginia in 1782, and brought to Kentucky in 1788 by his parents, who first located in Garrard County, but moved once a year for ten years, when they finally settled in Woodford County. Fielding was a mechanic but was also engaged in farming and stock raising, and died in Woodford County in 1855; his wife died five years later. John Edwards, grandfather of David W., was born in Virginia, and was a son of John, a native of Wales. Davis W. Edwards was reared a farmer, and, October 4, 1854, married Miss Amanda Latta, daughter of John and Margaret (McKee) Latta, of Franklin County. This lady died October 20, 1855, a member of the Methodist Church. January 10, 1863, Mr. Edwards married Miss Ann M., daughter of Gilbert and Jane (Miller) Mastin, and to this union eight children have been born, of whom seven are living: William H., John G., James Y., Jane M., Alexander W., Davis W. and Boyett. Mr. Edward owns 151 acres in Versailles Precinct, and is engaged in farming and stock raising. He and Mrs. Edwards, John G., James and Alexander are members of the Baptist Church. He has a brother, William H., who resides in Lafayette County, Mo., and a sister, Mrs. Mary J. Sisson, in Andrew County, Mo.
