ROBERT GARRETT (deceased) was born May 27, 1827, and was the third son 
of John and Elizabeth (Allen) Garrett, natives of Woodford County.  
William Garrett, John's father, was a Virginian, and of Irish descent. 
John Garrett was a captain in the war of 1812.  Robert Garrett received 
a limited school education, and was always a farmer.  May 5, 1858, he 
married Margaret Wilmore of Jessamine County; she died in 1862.  They 
have one child living, John W. Garrett, born in 1859.  September 19, 
1865, he married Catherine McDonald, of Mercer County, and of this 
second marriage one son is living, Joseph McDonald Garrett, born July 
23, 1866.  Mr. Garrett died January 11, 1872; his widow and son live on 
the farm of about 500 acres.
