Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 5th ed., 1887, Woodford Co. E. G. HAGGIN, born March 7, 1841, is the second son of John and Artemisia (Hawkins) Haggin, and a native of Mercer County. When only two years of age he was taken by his parents to Woodford County, where he still resides. His paternal grandfather, John Haggin, was born in Jessamine County, and his maternal grandfather, Jackson Hawkins, was a native of Virginia. E. G. Haggin was reared on the home farm, and worked on it until July, 1862, when he enlisted in Company H, Second Kentucky Cavalry, under Morgan, and and was in every battle until taken prisoner and sent to Camp Douglas. He married, September 6, 1886, Alice, daughter of Sinate and Bettie (Clore) Hawkins, and there have been born to him four children: Sallie B., James W., Edward E. (deceased), and Katie E. Mr. Haggin owns and cultivates 180 acres in Clover Bottom Precinct. Mrs. Haggin is a consistent member of the Christian Church.
