From: "ladykatheryn" Subject: Lincoln Co Ky Brick Wall Date: Thursday, November 21, 2002 8:33 PM This is my brick wall - They begin in Lincoln Co., before the forming of Rockcastle Co. as indicated below. They are the Ellis - Evans - Humber family. Here is what I know: *Thomas Ellis m: Hannah Evans in NC (?) of which state they were natives. They were the parents of at least 3 children 1] *Leander T. Ellis b: c1798 supposedly in NC, but I can't find a record in either NC or KY *Leander T. m: 1819 Lincoln Co., KY to Harriet H. Humber, daughter of Charles Christian Humber and Martha (Henley) Humber. Marriage bond states surety by Cornelius H. Neely - consent of Thomas Ellis for groom 18 Mar 1819, witnessed by Thomas Evans and Robert Nicholas. Consent of Martha Humber for her daughter 11 Mar 1819, witnessed by Barnett Hall and Edward Pleasants and C.H. Neeley. (my note: Edward Pleasants married a Humber, perhaps Lucy? and is there a relationship of Thomas Evans to Hannah Evans Ellis?) *Charles C. Humber and Martha H. Humber came to KY from VA. Charles C. Humber was the son of John Humber and Elizabeth Christian Humber of Goochland Co., VA and they lived in Lincoln Co./Garrard Co. KY. *Thomas Ellis and son, Leander T. Ellis are listed on the Federal Census for KY in 1810 - 1830 [Mount Vernon, Rockcastle Co.] After that date, I can't locate them until Leander T. Ellis appears in the 1860 census for Nodaway Co., KY. The 1820 census lists the ff: for Thomas - 1 male 45 and over, Females 1/10-16, 1/16-20, 1/45 and over. 1/10-16 would indicate birth 1804-1810; 1/16-20 would indicate birth 1800-1804 giving a clue that Nancy & Clarissa were born in KY. The census records were too unclear to ascertain any further data. Other children of Thomas Ellis and Hannah Evans Ellis are: [according to the above mentioned bio of Dr. Thomas C. Ellis] 2] Clarissa Ellis - married Joel Watson 3] Nancy Ellis - married L. Thompson This information is abstracted from a biography for Leander T's and Harriet's eldest son, Dr. Thomas C. Ellis in Nodaway Co., MO. This bio states that Thomas, Hannah, Leander T. and Harriet all died in MO., but gives no information as to where. It also states that Thomas and Hannah migrated to MO with Leander and Harriet, but I do not find them on any census or other record for MO. I hope that I have given someone information to help me jump my brick wall for these Ellis-Evans-Humber ancestors. I appreciate this "brick wall" feature on the web site. Thank You! Sincerely, Katheryn Lindsey ladykatheryn@attbi.com
