From: "Charles Koberg" Date: Wednesday, April 23, 2008 12:05 PM Our family has passed down orally a vivid story about one Barbara McKinney, who was attacked by Indians in frontier Kentucky when her husband was off on a 3-day trip to the nearest town. She was tied to a stake and scalped. Somehow, she freed herself and crawled back to their cabin, where her husband found her and nursed her back to life. Forever after, she wore caps to hide the scar, and one of her caps was lost to Katrina among all the other stuff owned by a descendant living in New Orleans. We have the story, but not the direct connection to our family of Kennedys or Rossons in late 18th - early 19th century Kentucky days. Our fable also includes the "fact" that the scalping was written about and incorporated in a schoolbook of Kentucky history. I'm targeting Lincoln county because the McKinney name appears in historical places. Have you run across a reference to this event or this person? =ck= Charles Koberg San Angelo, Texas "Nunc est bibendum"
