I am Dwight Scott and I am seeking additional information on Captain Samuel 
Scott, who was one of the original militia captains of Lincoln County, 1780.  
The DAR mistakenly lists my ancestor Samuel Scott of Washington County, VA as 
this militia captain.  But my Samuel Scott apparently never left Washington 
County, where he died in 1811.  His tombstone still stands in the cemetery of 
Glade Spring Presbyterian Church in Washington County.

On the other hand, the militia captain of this name seems to have lived in 
Augusta and Washington Counties before he moved out to "Kentucky" not later than 
1780.

I have undertaken a campaign to correct the DAR record, but this is not 
easily accomplished.
