From: Subject: Dr. John C. Craig & Wife Sarah C. Moore of Stanford Date: Saturday, November 24, 2012 10:50 PM Hello from Wayne County. I have visited the library and courthouse on many occasions, recording information on my husband's Moore family. Most recently I have found a nest egg of information I feel should be collected and maybe even a historical marker ordered for Dr. John C. Craig who died June 6, 1865 in Stanford. A life-long Lincoln County resident, he was as famous a surgeon as Ephram McDowell and their fame has duality in many medical journals. His wife Sarah C. Moore is from Wayne County. There are many doctors in their family, as well as physicians in school boarded in their home. Aside from Dr. Samuel P. Moore, their son, Sarah's sister Mary Evaline was married to Dr. Joshua S. Pierce. Thomas & William Craig were also physicians in Stanford. By far, however, Dr. John C. Craig needs special recognition. One of the biographies mentions Dr. Craig's photos being in the offices & apartment when taken over by Dr. James Givens Carpenter, his successor. Hundreds of years ago, but worth a hunt yet. Would you know where his office/hospital was located? Here is a link to my ancestry page. http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/7366860/person/6866906751_ Jacqueline C. Daffron
