Then both families moved to Cornci (sp?), IL Re: letter dated 8-9-85 from Aunt Eva: Geo's "occupations included being a farmer in KY, a buyer of land in OKLa soon after Statehood (Indians), a manufacturer of Japenese sweepers in several cities incl St. Louis (where I was born by a midwife). etc. Mom was a good saleslady. Also, Dad was a guard (tower) at the Pen a while. He bought & sold houses & real estate., Then he went into the grocery business for years. We had a varied lot of jobs & moves & wonder how we got along as well and were well fed along the way. Mom was a "teacher" early in life, too." "Dad told me many tales of his searches for mfg locations & train trips to Liberal KS. Once the plains were cold & very windy & so desolate he had the trainmen not unload his equipment & bought a return ticket back home to KY. Also a similar experience (alone) to Winipeg Canada. It was so cold he never left the depot to even look for a possible location & returned home. Mom was always holding down the fort at home awaiting Dad's return, etc. " She, Eva, also sent along a picture of her folks in the 20's. Eva also stated that Geo F operated a livery stable at Louisville, KY before kids were born; also mfgd & sold wallpaper brushes & brooms. At one time, George and Edna and family, early on, moved to Carni, IL to live near George's brother Robert and his family. When they moved to Anderson, IND, sometime around 1909, they moved to be near George's mother Adelia (akaDelia) and her second husband, Will Jarvis, who had earlier moved there from Casey Co, KY /Boyle Co, KY area. The migratory pattern of George and Edna: 1. Oldest son, Ralph, was born in Lamar, Co, TX, 1893; 2. Goldie, Marguerite, Robert born between 1896 and 1902, Boyle Co, KY; 3. Eva born in St. Louis, MO, 1906; 4. Charles born in Anderson, IND, 1909 ; 5. George F. Jr born in McAlester, OK, 1913. (In an article about Goldie, written at the Bethesda Care Center, Laramie, WYO, she thought her parents & family were allotted OK land.) WIFE NOTES: EDNA BOOTH CHILD NOTES: RALPH RUSSELL CHILD NOTES: Golden(Goldie) RUSSELL Death: NO CHILDREN According to letter dated Nov. 11, 1988, Eva Sanders stated that when she had been notified of Goldie's death(at an earlier date, probably between 1985 and 1988): "Goldie left no will or anything. I told the home to keep all of her possessions (not much) and use them for others if possible. They mentioned clothing, cane, walker, wheel chair, empty purse and simple cosmetics, etc. I was on the phone with them at care center as well as the Funeral home that had to perpare her burial in next county 50 miles west of Laramie, so now in communcations with the Oil Leas Cos and since some of the moneys went to her at the home, the home took it to hep pay for her care there, that was okay." Burial: Stryker Funeral Home, Laramie, WYO, funeral director General: In an article written during Goldie's stay at Bethesda Care Center, Rawlins or, Laramie, WYO, Goldie told interviewers that she had been born near Stanford, KY. She received her education in OK and taught school at age 16. She met and married L. Dunn in Texas, and she later went to WYO, where she managed several hotels. Then, she stated, that due to failing eyesight, she ended up becoming employed as a radio dispatcher for Teton Yellow Cab Co, in Rawlins, WYO. Eva and Dad, Charles, always thought maybe she was a "lady of the night," as when family ever went to visit her, she always met them at a cafe, post office, etc., never at her own residence. In letter dater 30 Apr 1985 to Eva Sanders. In part, "bringing back old memories...like when Grandma moved Grandpa Jarvis to an old Peoples Home in Anderson. He always was an ambishous (sp) man. He had a gasoline buggy. (Eva corrected to say electirc). Grandma was afraid to ride with him. (ha) and they stopped him running it. Afraid he would hurt himself. Now I could add a lot to the story, Grandpa always had the finest of everything. In Ky, he had two fine balck horses and surry, as they called a two seated buggy. Come flying down the Pike road. We kids were delighted as they always brought fruit and candy to us. At one time he was a high up Mason. But he quit that when he joined at the Gospel Trumpet Home Bunch and taught us to call his daughters Aunt Ola and Mary. And Papa enjoyed all of them. Now Aunt Ola even visited us in Decatur, IL. Uncle Tom Russell went by our house, a little farm at the edge of town. We thot that Uncle Tom was great, he always gave us things and Papa clothes. Anyway they were the good old days. .." "Uncle Tom was engineer on Wabash RR and ran by our house." In other letter for Round Robin, Goldie said she had married Lloyd twice.
