This is my last entry.So for those of
you who do not know me.I am the Daughter of Albert Clarence Releford and
Susie May Dye.Some may wonder why i have the Walls Name on here.My
great Grandparents were Andrew Rutherford and Martha Patsy Jane
Walls.Also in 1986 I married William Walls Jr.Grandson of John Baker
Walls and Willa Belle Francis.He died in Jan.2000.
My reason for doing this file was io straighten
out my family records that had been wrong.One was my father who was listed
as Albert Clem.This was my brothers name not my fathers.So now with my
sister Brendas help My Dad Albert Clarence Releford has his right name.My
broiher Albert Clem Releford Jr Died in Dec.2008.The next one i worked on
was My Aunt Toy My Mothers Sister. She was being listed as a stull,I found
records that proved she was the daughter of Josh and Mary Dye She was
even listed on his obituary as his daughter.Now i am working on My
Aunt Kate Hodge I have a Census Record that lists her as Catherine E
Rutherford Daughter of John and Amanda Rutherford,Social Security Record

I made a mistake about Patsy Jane Walls and
Martha Jane Walls I think that they are the same person not sisters.And the
Patsy that Married Cloyd Lay was born later.
The Dye Family
The Dye name Started in France came from the
name Dyess Greek God of Wine and Judge of men. We have no coat of arms
because we were Kicked out of France .The Dyer family has one that we
could use.The Dyes in France were French Protestant who had joined a
group that started a new church based on the teaching of John Calvin.They
were called French Hugunots.To make a long story short, The Datholic Church
was very upset because members of the church were joining this new
church.The Queen Mother sent a Duke and a bunch of men to downtown
Paris where they were having a St Bartholomew Day Festival.Thousands
were killed.For the peoplewho were left ,they had to join the church,leave
the country or be killed.They went to different countrys But ours went to
England where they ;ived for a long time until the pressure started again to
join the church. They left for America.The ones i found Settled in Va,Old
Rappanock which i think was on the James River.Some Pa and other
places.
I will probably put together a book for

to America.They were Border Clan not Highlanders.Lived on the River
Tweed,The town of Rutherford was burned and destroyed .I think in the
15th century.They joined William Wallace and Robert de Bruce in their fight
for freedom.
Now they are in almost every country of the
world except Scotland.There is over 300 mispellings of the name.Ruther is a
Celtic word means Red A ford is a river crossing.There is a legend about a

Thomas Rutherford was on his way into Ky.from
Va.With his wife Mary Ekizabeth Woodley or Woodsey and Baby ,their
daughter Mary,and three sons .They stopped to rest and Mary and the boyes went
to pick berries.Indians attacked and killed Thomas ,his wife and
baby.Mary saw what had happened and she and the boys hid .When she
thought it was safe to leave They walked through woods full of Indians until
they reached a small settlement now called Crab Orchard.Someone took them to
John Rutherford .Near what is now Stanford .The boys went back to Va.to live
with Elliott Rutherford and his Family.Later one of these boys settled in Pike
Co.Ky.Someof his family married into The Hatfield and McCoy Families.
Mary stayed in Ky.with John Rutherford and his
Family. On the same day That Susanna Married Ebenezer ,Mary Married
Spencer Hill and went back to Va.to live.
