Steve Allen, age 48 died Sat. Nov. 12, 2011 at Ephraim McDowell Hospital in Danville. He was the husband of Angela Lynn Baumgartner Allen whom he married May 5, 2001.
Steve was born April 22, 1963 in Dayton, Ohio. He was the son of the late Willie and Wanda Jean Ray Allen. He was a member of the Crab Orchard Pentecostal Church.
He was an employee of the Allen Company.

Survivors Include: wife, Angela, son: Justin Lamb of Lexington, KY, two Sisters; Kathy Johnson of Deland, Florida, Loretta Wood of Crab Orchard, KY, one brother, James
Allen of Crab Orchard. A host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces & Nephews and many good friends also survive.

In addition to his parents, Stephen is preceded in death by one nephew, Jamie Keith Anders.

Funeral services will be held 1PM, Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at McKnight Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Donald King officiating.

Burial will take place at Red Hill Cemetery with Military Honors by the Caswell Saufley America Legion Post # 18 of Stanford.

Pallbearers: Josh Lewis,  Tim Conner, Michael Murphy, James Brooks, Terry Wood and Jim Stamper. Honorary Pallbearers: James Allen, Bill Johnson, Mike Tomlinson.

Bill Asbery, 44, of Hustonville, died Thursday.

Born Aug. 6, 1968, in Boyle County, Ky., he was the son of Barbara Blakey Asbery of Hustonville and the late Jimmie Asbery. He was a tool and die maker and
owner and operator of B&J Towing. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved working on cars.

Other survivors include his beloved wife, Judy Barnett Asbery of Hustonville; a son, Joe Asbery of Hustonville: and a cousin, Kenneth Reed of Middleburg.

Cremation rites were honored by McKinney-Brown Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Joyce Hubbard Bandy, 66, of Moreland, went to her Heavenly Home on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012.

Born Dec. 23, 1945, she was a daughter of the late Pauline and George Hubbard Jr. She was a member of Moreland Christian Church. She was employed by Wal-Mart in Harrodsburg,
where she loved her fellow employees. Joyce loved having her family around and cooking for them. Family was so important to her.

Survivors include her husband of 47 years, James H. Bandy; daughter, Melissa Bandy of McKinney; son, Shea (Arlene) Bandy of Lexington; brother, Roger Hubbard of Florida,
and his son, Anthony Hubbard; and two grandchildren, Tabor and Shealy Bandy.
She was preceded in death by a son, Brian Bandy, and grandchild, Elizabeth.

Services will be noon Wednesday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. David Smith. Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Shea and Tabor Bandy, Anthony Hubbard, Bowen McGuffey, Jimmy Yowell and Bill Saunooke.

Butchie Barbour, 45, of Manuel Road in Stanford, passed away Tuesday, December 4. 2012 at UK Medical Center in Lexington. Born Thursday, September 28, 1967 in
Cook County, Illinois . He was the son of Lou Ellen Relford Byrd of Stanford and the late Matthew R. Barbour. Butchie enjoyed working on cars and fishing in his spare time.

In addition to his mother, Butchie leaves behind a significant other, Sue Wilson; one son, Matthew Barbour of Stanford; three daughters, Samantha & Ashley Barbour of
Chicago, Illinois and Brittany Barbour of Stanford; one brother, Jeffery David Barbour (Desma) of Stanford; four sisters, Brenda Berry (Mike) of Stanford, Tammy
Durham (Charles) of Moreland, Lori Denney (Rob) of Waynesburg, and Kim Browning of Crab Orchard; and two grandchildren.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn & Keith Barbour, and one sister, Krista Barbour.

Funeral services will be held 7:00PM Friday, December 7, 2012 at Fox Funeral Home with Bro. Terry Orcutt officiating the service. Burial will follow Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Berry Cemetery.

 Dorothy Mae Woods Boyd, 81, of Stanford died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, in Danville. She was the widow of Ray Boyd.

Born in Lancaster on March 2, 1931 to the late Gloud Byrd and Cora McQueary Phillips, she was a former Sunday School teacher, and she was a member of Stanford Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Ronnie L. Woods and Robert L. Woods, both of Indianapolis, Ind.; one daughter, Brenda McFerron of Stanford; one sister, Ruby Lawson of Indianapolis:
12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Connie Mae Woods; one great-grandchild, Breanna Perry; two brothers, Gloud Byrd, Jr. and Robert L. Brummett; and four sisters,
Johnetta Sizemore, Lucille Sullivan, Betty Jo Sanchez and Carolyn Hale.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel in Stanford, with Jason Coulter officiating. Burial will be at Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Robbie Perry, Randy McFerron, Jeff Perry, Junior Perry, Bobby Woods Jr. and Wayne Perry. Honorary pallbearers are Andrew Perry, Colin Brown,

Johnny Mack Chappell, 62, of Stanford, passed away Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Crab Orchard on June 7, 1950, to the late John and Alice Buchanan Chappell. He was a factory worker for General Electric.

Survivors include one son, John Raymond Chappell of Cincinnati; one daughter, Julie Michelle Pomeroy of Cincinnati; one brother, Clarene "Buddy" Chappell of Barboursville;
three sisters, Mary Lou Sowders of Stanford, Catherine Dishon of Stanford and Fern Godbey of Danville; a special friend, Linda Witt of Stanford; and five grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bobbie Chappell and Ronald Chappell; and a sister, Ruth Pruitt.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Ron Shepherd officiating. Burial will be in Ephesus Baptist Church Cemetery.

Dale Edward Collins, 61, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at his residence.

Born Feb. 19, 1951, in Stanford, Ky., he was the son of Mildred Collins Kirby of Waynesburg, Ky., and the late Ruben Harrison Collins. He was a 1969 graduate of
Memorial High School in Waynesburg. Dale loved the great outdoors, and in his free time could often be found hunting, fishing, riding horses or working on hot rods.
He was past chairman of the Wilderness Trace Ducks Unlimited Chapter. He retired from Kentucky Utilities as a transmission lines construction inspector, and spent much of his retirement on the beach.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Collins (Dr. Carlton) Monroe of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Dr. Megan Collins (Dr. Jason) Garrison of
Dover, Del.; two brothers, John (Suzan) Collins of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Irvin Collins of Waynesburg; two sisters, Kay Hensley of Stanford and Ann (Mike)
Belcher of Waynesburg; a sister-in-law, Janice Collins of Frankfort; his grandchildren, Jack Monroe and Catherine Monroe, both of Cincinnati; an uncle, Jonah
Dorwin Greer of Akron, Ohio; his former wives, Kaye Montgomery Adkins and Sandra Collins, both of Danville; three nephews; and five nieces.

He was predeceased by a brother, Paul Collins.

An open memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Stith Funeral Home in Danville followed by a visitation until 1 p.m.

She was the widow of the late Porter Cox, worked for Sam Robinson's store for 21 years, and the Dollar General Store for 7 years. She was also a member of Pleasant Point Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son Louie Cox (Faye) of Waynesburg, KY, three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one daughter; Imogene Cox Berry, three brothers; Willis, Clyde, and Arvis Barber, one sister; Ruby Ulmer, and one granddaughter; Brenda Berry Harper.

Visitation will be Tuesday, December 11, 2012 from 5-8pm. Funeral service will be Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at 2pm with Reverend Bill Rhodus officiating.

Cloyd Dennie Durham, 77, of Mount Salem, passed away Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, at home.

Born Jan. 26, 1935, in Casey County, he was the son of the late Carlis and Jennie Perkins Durham. He was a member of Indian
Creek Baptist Church and a U.S. Navy veteran. He retired from General Electric in Cincinnati after 31 years.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Rose Mary Dunn Durham; a son, Barry (Donna) Durham of Cincinnati. He was the beloved pawpaw of three grandchildren,
Leisha (Vernon) Clark, Rose Ann Robinson, and Ryan (Monetta) Salyers; and three great-grandchildren, Danny and Leah Clark and Mikayla Robinson, all of Cincinnati.

He worked for most of his life as a factory worker and farmer, was a hunting and fishing enthusiast, and enjoyed listening to country music.

Survivors include three nephews; James L. Farmer (Dayle), Mike Farmer, Bill Farmer (Lynn), three nieces; Linda Sue Thomas, Tina Warren (Dave), Melissa Carter
(Ottie), and ten great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers; Bobby Lawrence Farmer, J.C. Farmer, and W.D. Farmer.

There will be a one day service at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel (Stanford) on Saturday, December 22, 2012. Public visitation will be from 9-11 am and funeral service
will begin at 11 am with Bro. Harold McLaren officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford, KY.

Corps veteran and a member of Hustonville Baptist Church.

Other survivors include his companion, Beverly Vann of Lexington; a son, James Christian Grizzell of Lexington; grandparents, James Kelly and Fern Grizzell of Stanford;
brothers, David Grizzell of Olive Hill and Donovan Grizzell of Stanford; and a sister, Haley Grizzell of Stanford.

husband of Pauline Overbay Harris, whom he married on Oct. 17, 1964.

He was born in Broadhead, Ky., on March 9, 1942, to the late Aaron and Rachel Bennett Harris. He was a member of Watts Chapel Baptist Church.

Besides his wife, survivors include three children, Judy Harris Newcomb, Tammy (Elmer) Harmon and Franklin Eugene (Susie) Harris, Jr.; one sister, Linda Baker; two brothers,
Gobel and Jesse Harris; seven grandchildren, Kayla, Joshua, R.J., Austin, Dustin, Bridgette and Harley; and several nieces and nephews.

he was the son of the late Joseph C. Keesling, Sr. and Susie D. Gerkey Keesling.

Mr. Keesling was a World War II Navy veteran serving in the South Pacific. He was a retired lab technician for York Optical Company in Cincinnati, OH.
Mr. Keesling was a member of VFW Post #9630 in Batavia, OH.

In addition to his wife, survivors include five daughters, Nancy Karen Shadoan, West Union, OH, twin sisters, Tina Carol (Kevin) Davis and Toni Gail
(Chuck) Soule, both of Hamilton, OH, Cheryl Ann Merrell, Nicholasville , and Patricia Jo (Jeff) Stammler, Sylvania, OH; two sons, David Curtis (Jamie)

MORELAND — The Lord called Martha Frances “Nanny” Kendall, 76, of Moreland, home on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012.

Born July 10, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Edward Gaddis and granddaughter of the late Frances and Hubard Gaddis, who raised her. She was a homemaker
and a member of Westside Community United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Vester Kendall Jr.; four children, Cathy (Frank) Horton, Eddie (Pam) Kendall, Darrell (Donna) Kendall and Barbara Kendall; a sister,
Betty (Dawson) Terrell; eight grandchildren, Melissa Harris, Danielle Stevens, Natasha Middleton, Rebecca Patterson, Brent Kendall, Tonya Kendall, Keshia Newell and
Dustin Kendall; and eight great-grandchildren, Tara and Caleb Harris, Alexis and Elijah Stevens, Caeden and Ryker Patterson, and Adryan and Braylon Newell.

Betty Ann North Cooper Korb, 89, died Friday at Golden Living Center after a long illness.

Ann, as she was known to her friends and family, was the daughter of the late Gibson and Margaret Reynierson North of Hustonville. She was the widow of Richard H.
Cooper Jr. and Sam Korb, her husband of 40 years.

Ann is survived by three children, Margaret Ann Cooper Turner, Dickie (Sue) Cooper and Bill (Marcy) Cooper; three step-children, Margaret (Jim) Butler, Beverley
(Kevin) Verdon and Susanne Collins; seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her twin brother, James North.

A private service will be held. The family requests no food or flowers. Memorials may be made to Heritage Hospice.

Gary “Mutt” Mullins, 61, of Moreland, passed away Jan. 12, 2013.

Born June 3, 1951, he was a son of Maydell Trailor Mullins of Stanford and the late Harrison “Buddy” Mullins. Mutt was a graduate of Hustonville High School. 
He enjoyed being outdoors — he liked hunting, fishing, riding four-wheelers and running.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Andrew.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 35 years, Julie Longwill Mullins; a son, Michael “Mutt” Mullins; two daughters, Brandi (Shane) Dearmon of Fort Sill, 
Okla., and Brittany Mullins of Hustonville; a brother, Larry Mullins of Lexington; a sister, Sheila Mullins of Stanford; and seven grandchildren, Kelsey, Brooklyn, 
Lakyn, Milah, Izabella, Dakota and Maci.

She was the widow of Quinton Neal, who passed away in 1990.

Born Dec. 24, 1922, in Virginia Beach, Va., Mrs. Neal was a daughter of the late James and Mary Fentress. She was a very kind of loving mother and grandmother and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include two daughters, Jean (Dave) Beach of Stanford and Mary Ann Davis of Virginia Beach, Va.; a son, James Clarence (Cathy Snipes) of North Carolina;

FULTON, Ind. — Freddie Glen Rice, 73, of Fulton, Ind., passed away at 5:30 a.m. Jan. 3, 2013, at his residence, after a nine-month battle with cancer.

He was born June 10, 1939, in Moreland, the son of the late Fred and Essie Thomas Rice. Freddie had lived in Gravel Switch, Logansport, Ind., Twelve Mile, Ind., and Pendleton, 
Ind. prior to moving to Fulton. He served with the United States Air Force from 1959 to 1965. On Jan. 26, 1979 in Logansport, Ind., he married Elizabeth “Jan” Pittman and she survives.

Mr. Rice had been a safety hazard manager for the State of Indiana, having served over 40 years in fire service. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, gardening and sitting and 
visiting on his front porch on Main Street in Fulton.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Brenda (Steve) Whitaker of Wetmore, Kan., and Sue Rice (Kevin) Schmitz of Netawaka, Kan.; one step-son, 
Shawn “Mike” (Ute) Fuller of Clarksville, Tenn.; one step-daughter, Kimberly (Brad) Doyle of Monticello, Ind.; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three brothers, 
Howard Rice, Joseph Rice and David (Beulah) Rice, all of Boyle County; and one sister, Lillian Rice (Charlie) Allender of Sand Knob, Ky.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Bonnie D. Rice; three brothers, Michael "Bubby" Rice, Douglas Rice and Otis Rice; two sisters, Norma 
Rice and Nancy Reynolds; a brother-in-law, Elwood Reynolds; and a sister-in-law, Ella Rice.

Vivian Patricia Wilcher Spahr, 72 of Stanford, passed away Jan. 8, 2013 at home. Born Nov. 21, 1940, she was the daughter of the late James Floyd and Dorothy Merrit Wilcher. 
She owned and operated the Wooden Nickel Hail Salon in Stanford and was a member of Grace Fellowship Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Gilbert 
Spahr, 1 sister, Deloris Pendergraft and 1 brother, Jimmy Wilcher.

She is survived by her son, Ryan Scott (Sherri) Spahr; 2 brothers: Grover “G.C.” Wilcher and James Floyd “J.F.” Wilcher, Jr.; 4 sisters: Gertrude Davis, Matilda Price, 
Diane Cook and Sandy Chandler and several nieces and nephews.

Services are 11 am, Friday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by Bro.’s Vola Brown and Harold Thompson with burial in Hustonville Cemetery. Visitation is 5-8 PM, Thurs.

Speaks Hargis. She was a homemaker and a member of Stanford Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years; Arnold Stogsdill, one son; Joe Stogsdill (Becky), one daughter; Pamela Joy Fins (Eddie) all of Stanford, KY, six sisters; Gladys Whitaker 
(Clell) of Shopville, KY, Ella B. Phelps, Violet Hargis, Christine Hargis (Carlos), Nadine Phelps (Wayne Lee) and Jetta Richardson (Wayne) all of Somerset, KY, two grandchildren; 
Stephanie Fins and Seth Stogsdill, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers; Wayne Hargis (Jo Ann), Howard Hargis (Mayvis), Harold 
Hargis (Betty), and one sister; Vera Hargis.

Joseph "Arnold" Stogsdill, 83, of Stanford, KY passed away January 3, 2013 at home. He was born May 25, 1929 in Pulaski County, KY to the late Josiah and Nora Hargis Stogsdill. 
He was a retired plumber and electrician, and a member of The Stanford Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon since 1964 and a Sunday school teacher for over 50 years.

Survivors include one son; Joe Stogsdill (Becky), one daughter; Pamela Fins (Eddie) both of Stanford, KY, one brother; Okel Stogsdill (Zan), two sisters; Mary and Dorothy 
Mounce both of Somerset, KY, two grandchildren; Stephanie Fins and Seth Stogsdill, and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years; Imogene
Stogsdill who passed away December 16, 2012, three brothers; Ermil, Orville, and Othnal Stogsdill, and four sisters; Olive and Doris Stogsdill, Edna Whitis, and Elma Haste.

Visitation will be Sunday, January 6, 2013 from 5-9pm. Funeral service will be Monday, January 7, 2013 at 1pm with the Reverend Greg Hancock officiating. Both services will be

Gervis Ray Sutton, 85, of Crab Orchard, died Friday at University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington.

He was the husband of the late Deborah (Rutledge) Sutton who preceded him in death Jan. 2, 2001.

Gervis was born in Harlan, April 16, 1927, to the late James Monroe and Zora Bell (Kincer) Sutton. Gervis was a Kentucky Colonel and a veteran of the U.S. Navy and 
U.S. Army having served in World War II and in Korea.

Gervis is survived by three sons, Wayne Bolen (Missie) of Florence, Alan Sutton of Boulder, Colo., and Greg Sutton (Lisa) of Unionville, Ind.; three daughters, Lori Anne 
Bolen of Crab Orchard, Tracey Causey (Evan) of Corbin, and Tina Bratcher (Michael) of Crab Orchard; fiancée Joanna Rose of Crab Orchard; one sister, Thelma Carlsmith 
(Roger) of Oregon; one sister-in-law, Margie Sutton of Frankfort; and three grandchildren, Zachary, Allyson and Dax.

In addition to his parents and wife, Gervis was preceded in death by stepmother Julia M. Sutton; two brothers, Guyles and Lewis Sutton; and two sisters, Edith Sutton and Ruth Hild.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at McKnight Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Don Gutenson officiating. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday.

Burial will be at Piney Grove Cemetery with military funeral honors by Caswell Saufley America Legion Post 18.

Pallbearers include John Mink, Alan and Greg Sutton, Wayne Bolen, Evan Causey and Michael Bratcher.

Born May 26, 1944, in Broughtontown, he was a son of the late Leonard and Vernia Reynolds Todd. He was the widower of Trudy Kidd Todd. Leroy had worked for the Whirlpool.

Todd of Stanford; three sisters, Willene Powers, Carol Brown and Brenda Helton, all of Crab Orchard; his best friend, Wanda Faye Hansen; and a sister-in-law, 
Brenda Todd of Broughtontown.

In addition to his parents and wife, Leroy was preceded in death by three brothers, Delmas, Curtis and Dexter Todd

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at Friendship Baptist Church officiated by Bro. Darrell Gentry. Burial will be in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Derek, Jason, Tony and Larry Todd and Donnie and Brett Smith.

Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Saturday and until funeral time at Friendship Baptist Church

STANFORD — Mary Lou Whitaker, 67, of Louisville, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at St. Mary's and Elizabeth Hospital in Louisville.

Born Sept. 3, 1945, in Hazard, Ky., she was a daughter of the late Vernie and Verna Dixon Caudill. She was a librarian at Hillview Public Library in Louisville for 15 years. 
She was of the Old Regular Baptist faith.

Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Hansford Whitaker of Louisville; a son, Leander Whitaker (Teresa) of Pekin, Ind.; four brothers, Alan Caudill of Humbel, 
Texas, Hansel Caudill of  Hopewell, Va., Kenneth Ray Caudill of Stanford and Russell Caudill of Lancaster; two sisters, Veneda Phillips of Stanford and Geneva McKinney of 
Hamilton, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Josephine Bell.

Funeral services will be 3 pm Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at Spurlin Funeral Home. Bro. Haston Whitaker and Bro. Bert Caudill will officiate the service. 
Burial will be in Double Springs Cemetery, Waynesburg.

Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel in Stanford.
