BAKER,  JOHN

John Harley Baker, 93, formerly of 513 N. Main Street, died Monday, May 22, 2000 at the Thomas Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore.

Born September 30, 1906 in Moreland, he was the son of the late George Christopher and Allie Haley Baker. He was the widower of Aline Tatum Baker.

He worked as a plumber for Goodlett & Hayslett and was a member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church.

He was an army veteran, having served 11 years. He served under George Patton and was part of a special detail dispatched to Alkatraz Island to oversee the imprisonment of Al Capone.

Survivors include: one son, Michael Dale (Betty) Bugg, Harrodsburg; one daughter, Jennifer Joan (Jimmy) Long, Harrodsburg; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Ocie Baker; two sisters, Gertrude Merriman and Jennie Zimmerman.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 24, at the Ransdell Funeral chapel with Mark Girard officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery with military rites.

Pallbearers were Kevin Bugg, Todd Bugg, Don Hayslett, Harold Hill, Mike Hill, Vernon Tatum and Kevin Tyler. Honorary bearers were Donnie and Gil Hayslett.

STANFORD -- Services for Clyde Victor Baugh, 77, of Ky. 698, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Fox Funeral Home by Curtis A. Herrington. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
He died Monday at Stanford House Nursing Home. 
Born Dec. 11, 1921, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Ollie and Flonnie Rash Baugh. He was a self-employed building contractor, a member of New Bethel Church of Christ and an Army veteran of World War II. 
Survivors include his wife, Rachel Sowders Baugh; a son, Shawn Miracle of Lexington; two sisters, Ruth Johnson of Danville and Helen J. Watts of Liberty; and a grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Boyd Johnson, Max and Dwayne Miracle and Billy, Randy and Ricky Watts.

SCIENCE HILL - Daniel James Baugh, 14, of Ky. 1778, Kings Mountain, died Thursday at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington. The cause of death is pending autopsy results.
Born Nov. 23, 1984, in McHenry, Ill, he was the son of Daniel and Cheryl Tackett Baugh and a student at Lincoln County Middle School.
Additional survivors include one brother, George Gadberry of Fort Breyers, N.C., and two sisters, Crystal Miller of Somerset and Sarah Baugh of Kings Mountain.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home by Curtis Brock. Burial will be in McKinney Family Cemetery in Waynesburg.

WAYNESBURG - Services for Louis Baugh, 70, North Fishing Creek Road, Kings Mountain, are scheduled for 1 p.m. today at Miracle Temple Pentecostal Church by the Rev. Gary Yocum. Burial will be in Eubank Cemetery.
He died Sunday at Fort Logan Hospital.
Born March 10, 1926, in Pulaski County, he was a son of the late Quincy and Ellen Ashley Baugh. He was a farm worker and a member of Redemption Road Church.
Survivors include his wife, Bertha Adams Reynolds Baugh; former wives, Verna Young Baugh and Audrey Baugh, both of Waynesburg; two sons, Randall Baugh, Waynesburg and Delmer Baugh, Lexington; two stepsons, Donnie Reynolds, Kings Mountain and Tony Reynolds, Harrodsburg; two brothers, Hollis Baugh, Reading, Ohio, and Ivan Baugh, Somerset; two sisters, Merlie Pence, Eubank and Velma Blackburn, Ferguson; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a wife, Mildred Baugh.
Barnett and Demrow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Dora Hill (Dodie) Baughman, 84, of 314 Danville Ave., Stanford, died Monday, October 23, 1995 at her residence.
Born January 3, 1911 in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Kate Pence Hill.
She was a housewife and a member of Harris Memorial United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: her husband, John S. Baughman, Jr., Stanford; two sons, Dr.
John Baughman III, Harrodsburg, and Harry Hill Baughman, Louisville; one daughter, Katherine (Kitty) Bruce Brower, Stanford;

 two sisters, Virginia H. Cox, Stanford and Mary H. (Tommye) Woodall, Stanford; seven grandchildren.
Services for Mrs. Baughman were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 25, at the Fox
Funeral Home in Stanford, officiated by Dr. James C. Baughman. Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
Pallbearers were her grandsons: John S. Baughman IV, Tom, Bob, Bill and Hill
Baughman, and Courtney Brower.

CRAB ORCHARD -- Bernard Louis Bless, 83, of Waynesburg died Wednesday at his home.  Born March 27, 1919,
in the Ottenheim community of Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Emil F. and Mary Beyer Bless.  He was a farmer,
an Army veteran and a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Danville. Survivors include a brother, Emil Bless of
Montgomery, Ala.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery by the Rev. David Witten.

Born Sept. 19, 1961, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of Wanda Hodge Kidd of Mount Vernon and the late Tom Kidd.
She was a Baptist.

of Waynesburg and Melissa Earles, Candice Stephens and Jennifer Allen, all of Liberty; five brothers, Danny J. Kidd of Jeffersonville,

MUNCIE, Ind. -- Anna M. Bowden, 75, died Friday at Ball Memorial Hospital. Born Jan. 17, 1927, in Stanford, she was a daughter
of the late James and Clara Redeker Woods. She was retired from Superior Laundry and a member of Muncie Christian Center.
She was the widow of Charlie Bowden. 

Survivors include a son, William Bowden of Muncie; a brother, James Woods of Danville; three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren
and three great-great-grandchildren. 

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Parson Mortuary in Muncie by Tim and Marji King. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.

STANFORD - Jerry David Boyd, 55, of Neals Creek Road, died Sunday at his home.

Born Feb. 26, 1948, in Danville, he was the son of Ray Boyd of Indianapolis and Ruby Walls Lowe of Stanford. He was a pipeline
maintenance worker for Duke Energy, a Baptist, a member of Dix River Car Club and an Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Marrow Boyd; two sons, Brian Boyd of Stanford and Randy Boyd of Lexington; a sister,
Dema Terry of Stanford; and two grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fox Funeral Home by the Rev. Owen Edwards. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ray Middleton, Robert Elkins, Bobby Wilkinson, Kevin and Patrick Terry, and Nick Jones. Honorary pallbearers

Mildred Lorrine Franklin Brummett , 68, of Alexander Drive, died Saturday at her home.

Born Nov. 5, 1935, in Boyle County, she was the daughter of the late Lewis F. and Sarah A. Boyd Franklin. She was a nursing assistant
for 31 years at James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital, the widow of James  K. Brummett Sr., and a Baptist.

Survivors include three sons. James Brummett  Jr. and Thomas G. Brummett, both of Harrodsburg, and Gary W. Brummett of McKinney;
two daughters, JoAnn Klein of Louisville and Linda Faulconer of Perryville; 20 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Services will
be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Stith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery.

MORELAND - Harvey B. Candler, 67, of Hustonville, died Thursday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born Dec. 13, 1936, in Moreland, he was the son of the late Sherman and Josephine Reynolds Candler.
He was a retired truck driver and a member of the National Guard for 19 years. He was the widower of Betty Powers Candler.
Survivors include a brother, Mike Candler of Hustonville.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by G.W. Smith and the Rev. David Smith. Burial will be in
Hustonville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mike Candler Jr., Steve Jamison, Fabian Monroy, Dale Ashcraft, Bob Montgomery and Woods Adams.

she was a daughter of the late George and Jennie Hughes Johnson. She was a retired employee of Rand McNally in Versailles and
was a Methodist. She was the widow of Pleas Carpenter. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Limle of Frankfort; a sister, Aileen
Vanover of Moreland; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Ray Carpenter.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home by the Rev. Mike Hammerick. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

CARTER, Hassee, 89, of Hwy. 3276 Waynesburg, KY, passed away April 2, 2001 at Fort Logan Hospital in Stanford, KY. He was
born in Louisa, KY, October 25, 1911, son of the late Hezekiah Webb Carter and Adaline (Thompson) Carter. He was a farmer, store
clerk in Waynesburg and member of the Double Springs Baptist Church. Survivors include a step-son, Roy (Sue) Russell of Kings Mt.,
step-daughter, Tammy (Doug) Roberts of Waynesburg , sister, Elizabeth Osborne of Somerset and several nieces and nephews.. He was
preceded in death by his wives, Dovie K. (Hines) Carter, Mattie Belle Singleton, Lois Jeanette Fields, step-daughter, Edith Russell Eubank,
six brothers, Beckham, Loranza, Moan, Edgar, Richard and Finley Carter, three sisters, Gladys Smith, Lzenia Morgan and Erma Adams.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 5, 2001 at Chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home in Science Hill, with the Rev.

Jones K. Coffman of Stanford and the Rev. James Coffman of Augusta, Ga.; a stepbrother, Garnett Gray of Versailles; a sister, Joyce
Scurry of Augusta, Ga.; and a stepsister, Joann Anderson of Lancaster. Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Allen Chapel AME
Church by the Rev. Everhart Walker. Burial will be in Hilldale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be William McCormack, Earl Carson, Steven

by three sisters, Mrs. Howard (Gertrude) Barker of bowling green, Mrs. Donald (Dorothy) Skaggs of Fairborn, OH., and Mrs. James
(Effie) Hazelbaker of Danville and one brother, Delbert Crawford of Stanford.  Funeral services were held at House-Rawlings Funeral
Home.  Burial was in Hoskins Cemetery in Laurel County.

Born Nov. 19, 1935, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Clarence and Lela Mae Adams Deatherage. He was the owner of
Tel-Star Video in Stanford, member of Willow Grove Baptist Church and VFW American Legion Post 0301. He was a U.S. Air
Force veteran in the Korean conflict.
Survivors include three daughters, Pamela Sue Stagg of Danville, Martina D. Tillett of Stanford and Peggy Jo Cutter of Junction City;
five brothers, Clarence ``Bug,'' James, Hayes and Foster Deatherage, all of Stanford, and Lester Deatherage of Owensboro; two sisters,
Louise Kidd of Stanford and Patty Cromer of Brodhead; and six grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Fox Funeral Home by the Rev. David Harris. Burial will be in Camp Nelson Cemetery with a military
service by Caswell-Saufley Post 18 of Nicholasville.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy, Troy and Keith Deatherage, Kenny and Ricky Kidd, Randy and Tony Cromer and Jerry Domidion. Honorary

Ethel M. Fletcher, 69, of Middletown, passed away Tuesday afternoon in Middletown Regional Hospital. She was born in Stanford, Ky.,
Oct. 18, 1933, a daughter of Pascal and Mary (Marlowe) Pulliam. She was a member of the South Fork Baptist Church of Lincoln
County, Ky., and enjoyed bowling as a young woman. She had worked for 17 years at the Miami Carey Co. Mrs. Fletcher was a loving wife,
mother and grandmother, and will be sadly missed.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Larry Fletcher; two daughters, Judy Murphy of Florence, Ky. and Debbie (Mike) Morgan of
Middletown; grandchildren Erica Fletcher, Craig Shields, Erin Murphy, Maggie Murphy, Tonya Morgan and Mike Morgan; 13
great-grandchildren; her mother, Mrs. Mary Pulliam; two sisters, Delores Carrier and Jean Saunders; a sister-in-law, Dolly Pulliam;
and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Jean; her father, Pascal Pulliam; and a brother,
Manuel Pulliam.

 Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 2, at the Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home, with Pastor C. Nolan Phillips
officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Butler County Memorial Park.

Elizabeth Gilbert, 55, of 3607 13th Avenue Kearney, Nebraska died Sunday, June 15th, 2003 at her residence. Memorials services will
be 10:00 A.M. Monday, June 23, 2003 at First Baptist Church in Kearney with the Rev. Stan Murdoch officiating. Interment will be at a
later date. Memorials are suggested to the Society for Progressive Supranuclear Palsy Research. There will be no visitation.
O'Brien - Straatmann - Apfel Funeral Home of Kearney is in charge of arrangements.

She was born on September 28, 1947 in Crab Orchard, KY to Cecil and Mae (Dyehouse) Martin. She received her Bachelor of
Science degree in early childhood education from the University of Illinois and did masters work at UNK. On June 26, 1971 she
married James Gilbert. After they were married the couple lived in Champaign, IL, Chadron, NE and Radford, VA before making
their home in Kearney in 1988 where she was employed by UNK. She taught English as a second language to international students.
Her interests focused on her family, gardening, reading and travel. Her love of children and education was greatly important to her.
Her daughter was her treasure.

In addition to her husband she is survived by daughter, Jennifer Hunter, Kearney, Nebraska; her mother; brothers, Randy Martin,
and Don Martin; and sister, Pat Godby all of Crab Orchard, KY. She was preceded in death by her father.

Born April 29, 1916, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Jackson and Josephine Osborne Saylor. She was a homemaker
and a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Patsy Gustin of Crab Orchard and Corine Hawkins of Fort Wright; a son, Ernest ``Bud'' Todd of Crab
Orchard; a stepdaughter, Freddie Hundley of Knoxville, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at McKnight-Martin Funeral Home by the Rev. Dan Gutenson. Burial will be in Piney Grove Cemetery, Brodhead.

STANFORD - Millard Hoskins, 79, of Good Hope Church Road, Paint Lick, died Wednesday at Garrard County Memorial Hospital.
He was the husband of Jeanette Hoskins. Arrangements are incomplete at Fox Funeral Home.

County, will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Fox Funeral Home the Rev. John Todd. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
He died Wednesday at Garrard County Memorial Hospital, Lancaster.
Born April 23, 1917, in Laurel County, he was a son of the late Daniel C. and Thilia Pittman Hoskins. He was a retired farmer, and a
member of Good Hope Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Talbott Hoskins; two sons, Harold Hoskins of Salem, Conn., and Billy Ray Hoskins of Arizona; a brother,
Oscar Hoskins of Louisville; two sisters, Linda Reed of Bethel, Ohio, and Buelah Murphy of Richmond; nine grandchildren, and nine
great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Maynard Hoskins, Terry Hoskins, Randy Brown, Larry Johnson, Rick Murphy and Lee Murphy. .

CRAB ORCHARD - Joshua Mark Hendrickson, 23, of Crab Orchard, died Saturday.

Born Aug. 7, 1980, in Danville, he was the son of April D. Volk of Carlisle and Allen Hendrickson of Lexington. He was a 1999 graduate
of Rockcastle County High School, a carpenter and a member of Watts Chapel Baptist Church.

Other survivors include his son, Joshua A. Taylor Bradshaw of Brodhead; a brother, Christopher A. Hendrickson of Crab Orchard; a sister,
Angela C. Hendrickson of Crab Orchard; and grandparents, Mildred J. Helton of Crab Orchard and Berthal Hendrickson of Brodhead.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Crab Orchard Church of God by Dan Gutenson. Burial will be in Crab Orchard Cemetery. Pallbearers
will be Buddy, Jamie, Billy and Russell Hendrickson, Shannon Volk and Josh Lopez.

Mildred Jane Johnson, 74, of Lebanon Road, Parksville, died Sunday, April 2, 2000 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center
in Danville.  Born January 1, 1926 in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late William and Mabel Floyd Goens. She was the widow
of Lonnie Johnson. She was retired from Jackson Chair and was a member of the Parksville Baptist Church.

Survivors include: two sons, Gary B. Johnson, Danville, and Ronald E. Johnson, Rockwood, TN; one brother, Louis Goens, Lancaster;
two sisters, Ruby Preston, Danville, and Josephine Brummett, Casey County; four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandchild.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 5, at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home in Danville with Rev. Bill Boldt officiating. Burial was in Parksville Cemetery

Born Sept. 18, 1932, in Jonesboro, Ark., he was a son of the late Robert E. and Bessie Leach. He was a former owner and operator of
EAL Inc., an auto parts business from which he retired.
Survivors include his fiance, Loletia McLeskey of Stanford; stepfather, Verley McLeskey Sr.; five sisters, Marie Gilbert and Arlene Gibson,
both of Tennessee, Rose Connelly and Linda and Joyce Moore, both of Michigan; and a brother, Verly McLeskey Jr. of Michigan.
Graveside services will be 4 p.m. Thursday at Double Springs Cemetery in Waynesburg by the Rev. David Harris.

Leonard S. Martin, 72, Sacramento, KY, formerly of Burgin, died Sunday, April 9, 2000, at the Regional Medical Center in
Madisonville.  He was born in Lincoln County and was a retired diesel mechanic from the coal mines.  He was a member of Dixon
Baptist Church in Dixon and was an army veteran.

Survivors include: four sons, Leonard Martin, Jr., Jerry Edwin Martin and Freddy Eugene Martin, all of Hanson, and Tony Lee Martin of
Dawson Springs; four daughters, Carolyn Stobaugh, Dawson Springs, Rebecca Ann Nelson, Island, and Lisa Gail Rich and Mary Alice Nelson,
both of Hanson; two sister, Ella Mae Long, Harrodsburg and Elizabeth Wray; 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded
in death by a brother, James Martin.Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 12, at the Tucker Memorial Chapel in Sacramento. Burial
was in Island Cemetery.

employee at Matsushita in Danville, and a member of Fairview Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Florence Hazlett Mason; a son, Tommy Lee Mason Jr. of Stanford; a brother, Jack Harrison Mason of
Morrow, Ohio; two sisters, Dean Mason Brockman of Fairfield, Ohio, and Norine Mason Harper of Lake Wales, Fla.; two
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. today at Fox Funeral Home by Gary King. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

member of Bryantsville Missionary Baptist Church. She was the widow of Owen Montgomery and was preceded in death by a son,
Harold E. Montgomery.
Survivors include a son, Calvin Montgomery of Wilmore; four sisters, Margaret Hunt of Rising Sun, Ind., Gladys York and Hazel Wilder,
both of Crab Orchard, and Fannie Crawford of Stanford; two brothers, Morris and Raymond Johnson, both of Stanford; five grandchildren;
and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held Saturday at Ramsey Funeral Home by the Rev. Zora Oliver. Burial was in Lancaster Cemetery.

repairman for GTE for 32 years and a member of Moreland United Methodist Church. Additional survivors include his wife, Carolyn
Henson Noland; a daughter, Christi Noland, at home; two sons, Wayne Noland Jr. of Junction City and David Noland of Hustonville;
two sisters, Robin Harris of Stanford and Sherry Irvin of Crab Orchard; and five grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at W.L.
Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Wayne Watts. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Payton, Wayne Noland Jr.,

Born August 2, 1945 in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Charlie and Pearl Simpson Oaks.He was a former employee of Matushita
in Danville and a member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church. He was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam era.

Survivors include: his wife, Donna Smith Oaks, Waynesburg; two daughters, Kim Stonecipher, Columbia, Courtney Oaks, Waynesburg;
two step sons, Michael Stumph, Lawrenceburg, and Matthew Stumph, Harrodsburg; one step daughter, Susan Abrams, Harrodsburg;
five brothers, Kenneth, Paul and David Oaks, Waynesburg, Clyde Oaks, Stanford, and Dennis Oaks, Danville; two sisters, Ruth Rector
and Martha Ann Farmer, both of Waynesburg; one step grandchild.

Funeral services were held Sunday, March 26, at Fox Funeral Home in Stanford, with Bro. Dan Gutenson officiating. Burial was in

of Willow Grove Baptist Church, Stanford. She was the widow of Leon Sutton and Hubert Pence.
Survivors include two sons, Jack Sutton of Howell, Mich., and Terry Sutton of Stanford; three daughters, Louise Unthank of Richmond,
Brenda Estes of Stanford and Beverly Mandden of Huntingdon, Pa.; four brothers, Orville New of Greenfield, Ind., Odis New of
Lewisburg, Delbert New of Delta and J.S. New of Somerset; and six grandchildren.
Memorials may go to Heritage Hospice, Danville.

Born Dec. 3, 1917, in Dayton, Ohio, he was a son of the late Lester and Augusta Hirsch Puterbaugh. He was owner and operator of
Bob's Landing Marina and Mobile Home Park in Babson Park, Fla., and a charter member of Cumberland View Baptist Church. He
was a World War II veteran, having received two bronze stars.
Survivors include his wife, Leoria Puterbaugh, formerly of Stanford; two daughters, Connie Osburn of Babson Park and Sharon Lockwood
of Winter Haven, Fla.; a son, Robert E. Puterbaugh of Lakeland, Fla.; and six grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Moriah Cemetery, Stanford, by the Revs. Willard Dale and John Strickland.

She was a former employee of Firestone, retired after 25 years with GENESCO, and a retired Whirlpool employee. She was a member
of McKinney Christian Church.
Survivors include her husband, George R. Roberts; a son, Michael R. Roberts of Danville; a daughter, Alice Roberts Britton of Harrodsburg;
three sisters, Helen Moak of Hamilton, Ohio, Gracie Sutton of Lexington and Lida Chaney of McKinney; a grandson; and a step granddaughter.

Katherine Sampson Sallee, 69, of 1937 Parkers Mill Rd., Lexington, died Sunday, June 11, 2000, at St. Joseph Hospital. Born in
Lincoln County, June 14, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Robert Pietts and Sallie Chesnut Sampson.

She was a member of Gardenside Baptist Church, Eastern Star and Bluegrass Insurance Women’s Club.  She was an employee of
H. & R. Block for 10 years, a certified professional insurance woman, a graduate of Rose Hill High School and attended Centre College.

Survivors include: her husband, Billy Sallee; two daughters, Susan S. Gillespie and Kathy J. Sallee, all of Lexington; four sisters, Pauline
Holloway, South Lebanon, OH, Eileen Lester and Dorotha Lawson, both of Harrodsburg, Ann Baugh, Versailles; one half-sister Elaine
Clark, Bellevue; one brother, Robert (Barbara) Sampson Jr., South Lebanon, OH; two half-brothers, William (Wanda) and Lynn McQueen,
both of OH.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 14, at W. R. Milward Mortuary-Southland with Rev. James E. Heard officiating. Burial was
in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens.

SAYLOR, James

James W. Saylor, 93, of Middletown, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at Middletown Regional Hospital.

He was born on Jan. 13, 1911, in Lincoln County, Ky., and lived in the Middletown area most of his life. He was a Navy veteran of
World War II. Mr. Saylor worked at Sorg Paper Co. for 44 years as a paper maker, retiring in 1973. He was a member of the
First Christian Church, American Legion Post 218, and Middletown Senior Citizens.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elva Saylor, on March 30, 1994; and his parents, John and Matilda Saylor.

He is survived by two sisters, Laura Dennis and Betty Byrum; and a brother, Gilbert Saylor.

There will be no visitation. Graveside services will be at Woodside Cemetery Mausoleum at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 3.

CRAB ORCHARD - Graveside services for May Margaret Fish Settle, 85, of Holly Lane, will be 1 p.m. Saturday Jan 23, 1999 at
Crab Orchard Cemetery by the Rev. John Lowrey. She died Wednesday at Rockcastle County Hospital.
Born Feb. 24, 1913, in Crab Orchard, she was a daughter of the late Ivan W. and Maggie Traylor Fish. She was a retired Lincoln
County teacher. She was a graduate of Crab Orchard High School and received her bachelor of arts degree from Eastern Kentucky
University. She completed post graduate work at University of Kentucky, Western Kentucky University and Morehead State University.
She was a former director of the Crab Orchard Glee Club and was a member of Kentucky Retired Teachers Association, Crab Orchard
High School Alumni Association, the Logan-Whitley Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a member of Crab
Orchard Christian Church where she served as Sunday School teacher, pianist and organist. She also taught piano.
Survivors include her husband, Ray W. Settle; and nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers include Jerry Shelton, James Manuel, Thomas Butt and Paul Dillion.
Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Messer and Stanley Turpin.
There will be no visitation.

July 30, 1935 a daughter of the late Luther Edens and Betty (Dye) Edens. She was a Cook at Eubank Elementary School ,
Oran's Wagon Wheel Restaurant and a member of Polly Ann Baptist Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Mary Ann Fiance and (Dewayne Ballou) Taylor, Eubank; three grandchildren, Anita Carol
Dishon, Daniel Allen Keith and Renee Rayshawn Taylor, all of Eubank, Ky.; six brothers, Dennie Edens, Science Hill, Ky.,
Earl Edens, Elmwood, Ohio, Larry Edens, Science Hill, Ky., Jim Edens, Mt. Zion, Ky., Reece Edens, Bethelridge, Ky., Bob
Edens, Clay Co. Ky.; one sister, Inella Dick, Cincinnati, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence "Buddy" Smith, who died on May 21, 1998; her parents; one brother,
Willie Edens; two sisters, Adella Godby and Marcella Dick.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Monday June 18, 2001 at the Chapel of Morris and Hislope Funeral Home with Brother

County, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Sallie Frederick Spears. She was a homemaker. She was predeceased
by her husband, Jesse Sowers; two sons, Lloyd and Freeman Sowers; and a daughter, Ella Mae Girdler. She was a member
of Middleburg Christian Church. Survivors include two sons, Robert Sowers of Palm Bay, Fla., and Jimmy Sowers of Stanford;
three daughters, Frances Estes of Stanford, Juanita Gibson of Cincinnati and Eldean Brent of West Harrison, Ind.; a sister, Helen
Haag of Madisonville, Ohio; 26 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at
2 p.m. Monday at Fox Funeral Home. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery. Visitation is after 6 p.m. today. Memorials are

in Ohio and Stanford. He was a retired employee of the Jefferson Smurfit Co., where he worked for 34 years in 

Lockland, Ohio. He had been a staff sergeant in the Army during the Korean War and was a member of Tri-County 

Baptist Church in West Chester, Ohio. He also was a member of Caswell Saufley Post 18 of the American Legion, 

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7101 and Yeatman Masonic Lodge 162 in Mount Washington, Ohio. Survivors include 

his companion, Glenda Todd Walls of Lebanon, Ohio; a son, Charles E. Walls of Lebanon, Ohio; a daughter, Ewona 

Jane Allen of Norwood, Ohio; three stepsons, James "Kip" Allen of West Chester, Ohio, Brian Bailey of Carlisle, Ohio,
