CRAB ORCHARD  - James Milton Adams, 71, of Hwy. 618, died Thursday at Veterans Administration Hospital in Lexington.

Born March 19, 1933, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Elmer and Isabelle Gibbons Adams. He was the widower of Janet Fay Brummett Adams He was a retired employee of National Casket Factory and Tecumseh of Somerset. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include a daughter, Sheila Bryant of Brodhead; two sons, Roger and Kenny Adams, both of Crab Orchard; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Services are 2 p.m. today at McKnight Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Zion Church of Christ Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Tom, Everett, Charles, Wendell and Tommy Adams and Cecil Gibbons.

LANCASTER - Marilyn Baker, 67, Fall Lick Road, died Wednesday at Garrard County Memorial Hospital. Born Nov. 7, 1928, in Leslie County, she was a daughter of Rebecca Day Joseph of Lancaster and the late Mitchell Joseph. She was a homemaker and a member of Maple Avenue Baptist Church.

Other survivors include her husband, Clarence Baker; two daughters, Carolyn Craig of Danville and Virginia Baker of Lancaster; a son, Daniel Baker, Lancaster, and Johnny Isaacs, Lancaster, whom she thought of as a son; four brothers, Willie Joseph, John Joseph, and Mitchell Joseph Jr., all of Lancaster, and Harold Joseph, Louisville; three sisters, Ruth Warmouth, Rhoda Hacker and Martha Boggs, all of Lancaster; and four grandchildren.

 Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Ramsey Funeral Home by Hunt Miller and the Rev. Andy Baker. Pallbearers will be James D. Arnold, Doug Price, Collis Ray, Johnny Isaacs, Robert Craig, Roy Hopkins, Mitchell Playforth and Burl Cornelius. Honorary pallbearers are Vera Ray, Becky Hacker, Connie Yeakey, Grace Baker and Margaret Simpson. Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today. Memorials may go to Heritage Hospice, P.o. MORELAND - Elgin H. Baughman, 83, of Athens, Ala., died Friday at Huntsville Hospital.

Born in Water Valley, Miss., she was the daughter of the late James D. and Mildred Walker.

She was a graduate of the University of Mississippi and worked in the engineering office of the Tennessee Valley Authority.

Survivors include her husband, John H. Baughman; a daughter, Ann B. Porter of Rogersville, Ala.; a son, Jimmy Baughmann
of Marietta, Ga.; and two grandchildren.

Services are 2 p.m. Monday at McConnell Funeral Home in Athens.

Graveside services are 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Hustonville Cemetery by the Rev. Don Burton.

Pallbearers are Billy Ray Douglas, Josh Douglas, Brian Gover, Steve Porter, Bobby Ellis and Glen Shearer.

Visitation is noon-2 p.m. Monday at McConnell Funeral Home in Athens and 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home.

MORELAND - Margaret Ann Baughman, 80, of Hustonville, died Thursday at her home.

Born July 17, 1923, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Hettie Floyd Baughman. She was retired from
the University of New York at Oneonta where she served as associate dean of students. She was a member of Hustonville
Christian Church and received her undergraduate degree from Brenau College in Gainesville, Ga., and her master's from Indiana University.

Survivors include two brothers, Sam H. Baughman of Hustonville and John H. Baughman of Athens, Ala.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Revs. Betsy Smith and Don Burton. Burial will be in
Hustonville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Billy Ray Douglas, Josh Douglas, Steve Porter, Glen Shearer, Jimmy Baughman, Fred Reichenbach and Brian Gover.

LIBERTY - Daisy Beldon, 92, of Liberty died Saturday at Liberty Care Center.
Born Feb. 18, 1906, in Marion County, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Brown. She was a homemaker and
the widow of Kelly Beldon.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Lou Alstott of Liberty; a granddaughter; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Bartle Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.

MORELAND - Rena Allen Burris, 100, of Hustonville, died Tuesday at her home.

Born Aug. 30, 1905, in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late James E. and Florida Stapp Allen. She was a homemaker, a member of Hustonville Christian Church for more than 60 years, and a member of Christian Woman's Fellowship. She was the widow of Stanley "Jack" Burris.

Survivors include two daughters, Elaine Wesley of Liberty and Lorene Maupin of Campbellsville; a son, Bennie Burris of Hustonville; seven grandchildren; two stepgrandsons; eight great-grandchildren; a step great-grandson; and two great-great-granddaughters.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Hustonville Christian Church by the Revs. Don Burton and J.D. Shipp. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Stanley Burris, Joe and David Maupin, Brad Wesley, Phil Nally and J.D. Shipp. Honorary pallbearers are Chris Burris, John and Jim Nally, Wesley Spencer, Aaron Shipp, Casey Maupin, Josh Long and Joseph Long Jr.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. Friday at the church. Memorial contributions can be made to Hustonville Christian Church building fund.

MORELAND - Lena Coffman, 87, of Orange Park, Fla., died Sunday in Florida.

Born Aug. 30, 1916, she was the daughter of the late James and Brusha Peyton Ellis. She was the widow of Elmer C. Coffman.

Survivors include a son, Elmer G. Coffman of Orange Park, Fla.; three sisters, Edna Peyton and Essie Taylor, both of Liberty, and Mary Mullins of Lebanon; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by G.W. Smith.

Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.

CRAB ORCHARD - Sophia Day Coots, 83, of Crab Orchard, died Saturday at her home.

Born April 14, 1922, in Leslie County, she was the daughter of the late Monroe and Melinda Lewis. She was a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church. She was the widow of Bige Coots.

Survivors include three sons, Homer Coots of Danville, Michael Coots of Dayton, Ohio, and *Pat Coots of Crab Orchard; two daughters, Jackie Brock of Villa Rica, Ga., and *Hazel Saylor of Crab Orchard; four brothers, Lloyd Day of Xenia, Ohio, Dexter and Paul Day, both of Hyden, and Ernest Day of Lancaster; three sisters, Myrtle Fouts and Annie Hensley, both of Hyden, and Lillian Joseph of Ohio; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Bige Coots Jr.

Arrangements are incomplete at McKnight Funeral Home. Burial will be in Coots Family Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be J.R. Brock, Jeffrey Strickland, Larry Phillips, Bill Mullins, Phillip Coots and Stanley Saylor.

Services for Elton Alexander Coppage, 89, formerly of Casey County, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Stith Funeral Home by the Rev. Bob Buasum. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.
He died Tuesday at Charleston Health Care Center. Born Aug. 16, 1907, in Casey County, he was a son of the late Leslie and Kizzie Goode Coppage. He was a farmer and a member of Rocky Ford Baptist Church. He was the widower of Myrtie Downey Coppage.
Survivors are a son, Edwin "Buddy" Coppage, Liberty; four daughters, Alta Reid of Hustonville, Frances Porter of Charlestown, Ind., Anna Vanoy of Frankfort and Zetta Vaught of Lexington; a sister, Christine Downey, Princeton; 34 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four children, Norma Beldon, Mary Lou Coppage, Wayne Coppage and Elton Coppage Jr. Pallbearers will be Gary Reid, David Beldon, Benjanin Wooley, Michael Coppage, Steve Vandy, Tim Coppage and Greg Vaught.
Honorary pallbearers are Richard Reid, Joe Beldon, Dwayne Beldon, Edwin Wooley, Mark Wooley, Barry Wooley, Todd Coppage and T.J. Coppage.

MORELAND - Services for Edith Florence Elizabeth Sears Cox, 78, of Lebanon, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Jim Humes and Shannon Queenan. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.

She died Saturday at Cedars of Lebanon Nursing Home.

Born Feb. 7, 1928, in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late Bud and Minnie Reeves Sears. She was a homemaker and the widow of Bonia Melvin Cox.

Survivors include a daughter, Judy Keeling of Lebanon; a son, Jerry Melvin Cox of Lebanon; a brother, Robert Sears of Casey County; three sisters, Lillie Followell of Franklin, Ind., Wanda Sears of Stanford and Ruby Compton of Liberty; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Keeling, Scotty Wright, James Brown Jr., James W. Brown Tony Florence and Stewart Sears.

Graveside services for Lillian Imogene Allen Cox , 80, of Lexington Center for Health and Rehabilitation, formerly of Danville , will be
1 p.m. Tuesday at Hustonville Cemetery by the Rev. Don Benningfield. She died Saturday.

Born March 6, 1923, in Ellisburg, she was the daughter of the late Winfield S. and Lilly Ann Purdom Allen. She was a teacher in an Ellisburg one-room school and a homemaker, and a member of Ellisburg United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Forkland High School and Lindsey Wilson College, and attended University of Kentucky. She was the widow of Merrill Cox .

Survivors include a sister, Manelle Cox  of Lexington. [ See file # 33]

Marie Wilson Crank, 84, of Crab Orchard, died Wednesday, Feb. 15 at the Fort Logan Hospital in Stanford.

A native of Lincoln Co., she was born Dec. 16, 1921 to the late Ashford and Flora Alice Denny Wilson. She was a member of
Beech Grove Baptist Church and the widow of Homer Crank.

She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Russell Dowell; three grandchildren, Connie Simpson, Ricky Wayne Dowell, and
James Ray Price, Jr.; three brothers, Manford, Willie, and Charles Evan Wilson; and one sister, Vernell Brock.

Survivors include two sons, Homer Douglas (Ina) Crank of Lancaster and Manford Harold (Ann) Crank of Crab Orchard; four
daughters, Edith Yvonne (James) Price, Dianna Mae Simpson, Eva Carolyn Dowell, and Deborah Lynn (Sherrill) Sims all of Crab
Orchard; one sister, Eva Volecker of San Antonio, TX.; two brothers, Edward Wilson and Joe Wilson both of Milton, OH.; 12
 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and one great, great grandson.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 18 at the McKnight Funeral Home in Crab Orchard with Bros. Ron Harp and Gordon
Chaney officiating. Burial was in the Ephesus Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were grandsons, David Price, Homer Price, Larry Dowell, Gary Crank, Lonnie Dowell, Jimmy Crank, Manford
Crank, and Shawn Crank.

STANFORD - James Rice Crawford, 70, of Whitley Avenue, died Sunday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born May 3, 1934, in Lincoln County, he was the son of James T. and Josephine Rice Crawford. He was a retired water plant
operator with Stanford Water Works and served in the National Guard during the Korean War. He was a member of Pine Grove
Church of Christ and Masonic Lodge 631, McKinney. He was the husband of Fannie E. Johnson Crawford.

Additional survivors include two sons, James T. Crawford of Danville and Prentice C. Crawford of Stanford; three brothers, Robert
Crawford of Garrard County, Sammy Crawford of Madisonville, and Danny Crawford of Lexington; a sister, June Long of Garrard
County; three grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Fox Funeral Home by Rick Estes. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ramey Douglas, Justin, Brian, Sam and John Crawford, and Jeff Stickler. Honorary pallbearers are John Scufe,
Tim Wiler, Cecil Witt and James Long.

MORELAND - Mary V. Crowe, 92, of Hustonville, died Saturday at Stanford House Nursing Home.
Born May 10, 1906, in Casey County, she was a daughter of the late John A. and Malvina Lane Asberry. She was the widow of
Elmer Crowe. She was a homemaker and a member of First Church of God, Hustonville.
Survivors include two sons, Elmer and Henry Crowe, both of Junction City; a daughter, Edith Carrier of Hustonville; 25 grandchildren;
46 great-grandchildren; and 23 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three daughters, Bonnie League, Laura Gifford and Ruby Curtis.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Coy Rigney. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Dale Carrier, David Coffman, Darrell Gifford, Ricky and Mike Crowe and Stuart League.

STANFORD - Terry L. Curry, 50, of Stanford, died Saturday at his home.

Born Nov. 8, 1953, he was the son of Orville Curry of Hodgenville and the late Shirley M. Curry. He was the husband of Janice Curry.
He was a pipe fitter and a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, Hodgenville. He was a Navy Veteran of Vietnam.

Survivors include a step son, Aaron Lynch of Stanford ; a brother, John E. Curry of Hodgenville; and a step grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a step son, Matthew D. Lynch.

Services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Bennett and Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville by the Rev. Gordon McDowell. Visitation

LEOMA, Tenn. - Emelie Bertha "Mickie" Camenisch Davis, 58, of Leoma, Tenn., died Wednesday at her residence.

A native of Stanford, she was an employee of Jones Apparel and a member of Bonnertown Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Mark Davis; three sons, Bob Davis of Five Points, Tenn., Dale Davis of Leoma, and Jason Davis of
Ethridge, Tenn.; two daughters, Kathy Davis of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., and Amanda Davis of Leoma; three brothers, Christian
Camenisch of Washington, D.C., and J.B. Camenisch and Robert Camenisch, both of Stanford; six sisters, Johanna Camenisch
of Louisville, Mildred Jordan of Irvin, Anna Camenisch of Phoenix, and Betsy Elliott, Nancy Camenisch  and Ellie Camenisch,
all of Stanford; and five grandchildren.

Services were Friday at Greenhill Cemetery by the Rev. Ted A. Stricklin. Burial was in Barnett Cemetery.

MORELAND - Helen Dunn, 95, of Charleston Health Care Center, formerly of Hustonville, died Monday at Ephraim
McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born Nov. 4, 1908, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late George and Mina Swope Lucas. She was a homemaker
and a member of Mount Salem Baptist Church. She was the widow of Charlie Dunn.

Survivors include two daughters, Rose Mary Durham of Hustonville and Ruth Hogue of Cincinnati, Ohio; three brothers, Lester,
Virgil and Norman Lucas, all of Indianapolis, Ind.; a sister, Lucille Delk of Danville; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren;
and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Garland Dunn, and a daughter, Nell Dunn.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by Travis Farris. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Barry Durham, Terry Hogue, Odis Delk, and Alan and Danny Dunn.

LANCASTER  Lloyd H., 76, of Lexington Road, died Monday at his home.

Born Nov. 4, 1927, in Garrard County, he was the son of the late Hugh B. and Pearl Hurt East. He was a farmer, a member of
Liberty Baptist Church and a veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Roberta Brogle East; five sons, Lloyd East, Dexter East, David East, Stuart East and John East, all
of Garrard County; a sister, Ida Mae Brogle of Moreland; a brother, Howard East of Garrard County; and 11 grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Mount Hebron Baptist Church by Steve Meece and Sam Arnold. Burial will be in
Mount Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery.

CRAB ORCHARD - Ruby Lee Johnson Egner, 78, of South Shore, formerly of Crab Orchard, died Friday at Southern
Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio.

Born Jan. 6, 1928, in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late William and Addie Poynter Johnson. She was a former
employee of Butler Furniture in Carrollton.

Survivors include her husband, Junior B. Egner of South Shore; three sons, Edward Egner of Portsmouth, Hubert Egner of
Decatur, Texas, and William Egner of Cleum, Wash.; a daughter, Gracie Lee Norton of Connersville, Ind.; two brothers,
Cecil Johnson of Crab Orchard and William Johnson Jr. of Lancaster; a sister, Margaret Goins of Waynesburg; 14 grandchildren;
several great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was predeceased by a son, Gilbert Loraine Egner; and a grandson.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at McKnight Funeral Home by Gordon Cheney. Burial will be in Dix River Church of Christ Cemetery.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. Tuesday.

STANFORD - Carol E. Farmer , 66, of Stanford, died Saturday at University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center.

Born Sept. 15, 1938, in Covington, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Edith Burke Haggard. She was an employee of
Centre College administration office and had worked for the college for 20 years. She also was a member of Latonia Christian Church.

Survivors include her husband, W.D. Farmer; a son, Bill Farmer of Stanford; a daughter, Melissa Carter of Somerset; three sisters,
Alma Angel of Taylor Mill, Marsha Crouch of Ryland Heights, and Linda Oldiges of Independence; and three grandchildren.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Spurlin Funeral Home by the Rev. Stuart Mason. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ross Carter, Aaron Farmer, Robert, Richard, James and Ronnie Crouch, Dale and Mike Oldiges. Honorary pallbearers

She died Sunday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born May 25, 1934, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late William H. and Ada Floyd Watts. She was a homemaker
and the widow of Ernest M. Foley.

Hospital and an employee of the former Heck's Department Store. She attended Parksville Knob Independent Baptist Church.

She was the wife of the late Rev. Roy C. Franklin

The Rev. Roy C. Franklin 74, of Little Needmore Road, died Friday at his residence.

Born Dec. 30, 1928, in Danville, he was the son of the late Lewis and Sally Boyd Franklin

He was the husband of the late Carrie Jean Yates Franklin.

He was retired from NCR in Dayton, Ohio, and was a minister at First Pentecostal Church of God.

Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Wilson Reynolds and Janice Casey, both of Lancaster; a sister, Mildred Brummett of Danville; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel "Danny" Franklin.  

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home. Burial will be at Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Born Oct. 3, 1919, in Waynesburg, he was the son of the late Walter and Letha Johnson Gooch. He was a retired farmer, a
World War II veteran, a Purple Heart recipient and member of Pleasant View Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Geneva Addington Gooch; two sons, Kenneth Gooch Sr. of Kings Mountain and Dean Gooch of
Danville; a daughter, Sandra Powers of Kings Mountain; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two step grandchildren;
seven step-great grandchildren; and six step-great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Vida J. Gooch.

He was a minister with Geneva Baptist Church and formerly with Indian Creek Baptist Church in Casey County.

He was former operator of Horton's Grocery and was a bus driver with the Lincoln County school system.

Joe Van Hutchison, 58, of Eubank, died Monday, Feb. 13 in Raritan Township, NJ.

A native of Lincoln Co., he was born Tuesday, March 4, 1947 to the late Earl D. Hutchison and Louise Pendigraph Hutchison of
Highland. He was a truck driver for Core-Trans in Somerset, a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War, and a member of the
Highland Methodist Church.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Shawn Hutchison.

Survivors include his fiance, Gayle Good of Eubank; two sons, Joseph Van Hutchison of Highland and Noah Todd Hutchison of
Ocala, FL.; one daughter, Dana Pyles of White Plains; one brother, Don Lee Hutchison of Danville; one sister, Linda (Terry)
Kimberlin of Louisville; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 18 at the Highland Methodist Church with Bro. Don Scilley officiating. Burial was in the
Highland Methodist Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Edward Kimberlin, Terry Neal, Fonzo McGuffey, Sam Cordier, Dailey Hutchison, Joseph Hutchison,

He died Sunday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. 

Born in Moreland, he served in the Air Force during the Korean War and was a member of Moreland United Methodist Church. He worked at General Electric Corp. in Louisville, and owned several businesses, including Lincoln Inn in Moreland, Johnson's Grocery in Milledgeville, Johnson's Texaco in Shelby City and K&B Wheel Alignment in Junction City.He also was a former employee of Whirlpool Appliance Corp. and a Junction City Council member. 

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Phillips Johnson; a daughter, Teresa Lyons of Danville; a son, Eddie Johnson of Danville; and four grandchildren. 

Pallbearers will be Elwood Randolph, Donnie Wilson, Bruce Johnson, Paul Bodner, John Toombs and Logan Young. Additional survivors include her husband, Herbert McBrayer; three daughters, Sally Jones Hale and Karen Jones Kleczkowski, both of Danville, and Imogene Jones Goodlett of Nicholasville; two sisters, Jo Benton of Nicholasville and Martha Dean of Stanford; two brothers, George Bertram Jr. of Stanford and Ray Bertram of London, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Cleve Jones.

MELTON, James Preston Jr.

James Preston Melton, Jr., 80, died Monday, Feb. 27 at his home.

A native of Barbourville in Knox Co., he was born Nov. 7, 1925 to the late James Preston Melton, Sr. and Katherine Malinda Green Melton. He grew up in Lynch in Harlan Co., was a member of Crestwood Baptist Church in Frankfort, and entered the Army in 1943 serving in both the European and Mediterranean Theaters during which time he was awarded two Purple Hearts, two Bronze Stars, and the Victory Medal. Following his military service, he completed his education and then went on to teach business education, serve as an elementary principal in the Lincoln County Schools, teach in Harlan Co., and become superintendent of the Bourbon County Schools. He joined the Department of Education as Director of Statistical Services, was appointed Assistant Superintendent for Administration and Finance, served as a public school finance consultant for the Department of Education and the Alabama, Ohio, Tennessee and Mississippi Departments of Education, on the National Educational Finance Project and the Governor’s Task Force on Educational Finance, and became Executive Director of the Staten School Board Association where he served until his retirement.

He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Lisabeth Suzanne Melton; one son, David Stephen Melton; one sister, Betty Jo Coldiron of Cumberland; and one great granddaughter, Alaina Ann Hamilton.

Survivors include his wife, Eldred W. Melton; one son, James Preston (Pamela) Melton, III of Frankfort; one daughter, Sarah Ann (Gerald) Hamilton of Mason, OH.; one brother, Robert T. (Pat) Melton of Lexington; grandsons, James Preston (Leann) Melton IV of Fort Lewis, WA., and Matthew Melton of Frankfort; granddaughters, Haley E. and Holly E. Hamilton both of Mason, OH.; nephews, Robert Melton of Danville and Jeffrey Melton of Wilmore; nieces, Katherine Hardwick of Lexington, Connie Perry, Rebecca Grigsby, and Jacqueline Coldiron of Cumberland; one great granddaughter, Emily Melton of Fort Lewis, WA.; two step great grandchildren, Austin Keys and Breann Myers.

Funeral services will be held later at Pilot Baptist Church in Eubank. Burial will be in Pilot Baptist Church Cemetery.

Survivors include two daughters, Tina Burnside of Lexington and Laura Burnside of Stanford; four sons, Eddie Burnside and James Burnside, both of Stanford, Kerry Burnside of Richmond, and Scott Newcomb of West Virginia; a brother, Jimmy Newcomb of Lancaster; two sisters, Ruth Newcomb of Stanford and Carolyn Newcomb of Danville; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He died Thursday at his home.

Born Sept. 23, 1937, he was the son of the late Claude and Louvena Smith Rhodus.

He was a soil technician for the USDA Soil Conservation Service for 30 years and an Army veteran. He was a member of Eubank Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Oleta Conley Rhodus; a son, Lewis F. Rhodus of Waynesburg; a daughter, Luvena Walker of Knoxville, Tenn.; a brother, Charles Rhodus of Hillsboro, Ohio; three sisters, Betty Young of Stanford and Dorothy Rhodus and Helen Durbin, both of Danville; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Andrew and Aaron Walker, Jared and Jacob Rhodus, Dustin Moore and Sam Jones.

He died Wednesday in Stanford.

Born Oct. 24, 1959, in Muncie, Ind., he was a son of Gene and Janice Clevenger Rice of Waynesburg.

MORELAND - Lisa Marie Southerland Robinson, 43, of Maxey's Valley community, died Thursday at Central Baptist Hospital.

Born Feb. 25, 1961, in Danville, she was the daughter of Evelyn Carey Southerland of Stanford and the late Delbert L. Southerland. She was an employee of Admart Custom Signs in Danville and a homemaker. She was a graduate of Lincoln County High School and a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

Other survivors include her husband, David W. Robinson; two sons, Brandon and Kevin Robinson, both of Maxey's Valley; and two brothers, Randy Southerland of Stanford and Keith Southerland of Danville.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Chuck Robinson. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.

STANFORD - Services for Danna Carole Cornelius Sharp, 55, of Stanford, will be 1 p.m. todayat Fox Funeral Home by Dale Denton.

She died Tuesday at her home.

Born Jan. 3, 1951, in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of Daniel G. and Desdia Myrtle Parsons Cornelius of Harrodsburg.

She was a homemaker, a member of Stanford Baptist Church and a past member of Harrodsburg Order of Eastern Star 309. She was a 1969 graduate of Harrodsburg High School. She also was chairwoman of the Lincoln County Fair Horse Show, a member of Kentucky Walking Horse Association ladies auxiliary and has owned and exhibited world and international grand champion horses. She was the widow of Ronal Sharp.

Survivors include a daughter, Amy E. Davis of Liberty; two stepdaughters, Judy Burton and Mary Beth Sharp, both of Stanford; a stepson, Ronnie Sharp of Stanford; two sisters, Joyce Sanders of Harrodsburg and Janice Johnson of Louisville; and four step grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Robbins, Landon Williams, Cleo Sanders, Richard Johnson, and Dan and Jimmy Withrow. Honorary pallbearers are Lee Burton and Sammy Martin.

He died Thursday at his home.

Born Jan. 3, 1957, in Lincoln County, he was a son of Betty Chaney Edwards of Norwood and the late James V. Sims.

Other survivors include two daughters, Stephanie Sims of Stanford and Angela Spears of Somerset; a brother, Donald K. Sims of Norwood; three half brothers, Jimmy and Richard Sims, both of Stanford, and Ricky Sims of Ohio; a sister, Debbie J. Durham of Moscow, Ohio; three half sisters, Becky Sims of Stanford, Sandy Edwards of Dear Park, Ohio, and Theresa Achtens of Birmingham, Mich.

He died Friday.

Born May 9, 1937, in Campbellsville, he was the son of the late Samuel G. and Mary Lee Rice Smith. He was a health care consultant and former president and CEO of Ephraim McDowell Health.

In 2000, Smith was named Citizen of the Year by Danville-Boyle County Chamber of Commerce and was a former chairman; and in 2001 he was recognized by the Kentucky Hospital Association with the Distinguished Service award.

Smith was past president of Danville Rotary Club and deacon chairman at Lexington Avenue Baptist Church, Danville. He sat on boards 
at Campbellsville University and St. Catharine College. He was a board member of the Louisville branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of 
St. Louis.He was a former board member of Ephraim McDowell Health, Ephraim Resource, Ephraim HealthCare Foundation, Central 
Kentucky Cancer Program, Russell County Hospital, Fort Logan Hospital, and A Children's Place.Smith was former chairman of the 
Cooperative Care board and the Hospital Technical Advisory Committee of the Kentucky Medical Assistance Program.He was a past 
member of the board of directors and the 1991 class of Leadership Kentucky. He was a former assistant professor (volunteer) for 
University of Kentucky College of Allied Health and a former board member of Central Kentucky Health Delivery Network.He was a 
former member of the Kentucky Hospital Association board and the Kentucky State Legislative Task Force on Complimentary and 
Alternative Medicine.He was a past board chairman of Corporate Family Services Inc. and a past member and chairman of 
Danville-Boyle County Industrial Council. He was a past member of American Hospital Association, Kentucky Medical Insurance 
Co.'s Hospital Advisory Committee, American Telemedicine Association, and National Rural Health Association former president 
of the Salvation Army board, and former treasurer of Mercer-Boyle County Family YMCA board.He was a former member of the 
Bluegrass Council board, Boy Scouts of America, and Danville Downtown Business Association.

WAYNESBURG - Mary Long Terry, 83, of Waynesburg, died Friday at her home.

Born Aug. 27, 1920, in Butler County, Ohio, she was the daughter of Jim Blaine and Martha Anne Vaught Moore. She was a retired Veterans Administration hospital nurse and member of Pleasant Point Baptist Church. She was the widow of Edgar Long and Woodrow Terry.

Survivors include three sons, James Long of Nicholasville, and Kenneth and Randall Long, both of Stanford; two daughters, Dewilla Holtzclaw of Waynesburg and Drucilla Benedict of Kings Mountain; a brother, Remis Moore of Hustonville; three sisters, Alma Anderson, Patricia Hart and Betty Lou Hargis, all of Eubank; 16 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jeff, Alan, David, Raymie and Steven Long, and Mike Benedict.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Barnett and Demrow Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mount Moriah cemetery.

Lauton Turpin, 68, of Cream Ridge Road, Danville, died Friday, February 14, 2003 at his residence.

Born September 21, 1934 in Casey County, he was the son of the late George Washington and Della Baxter Turpin. 

He was a farmer, woodworker and a gardener.

Survivors include five sisters, Hazel Rogers, Lucille West, and Mildred Reynolds, all of Junction City, Lula Lester, Shelbyville, and Mabel Lechok, Harrodsburg; two brothers, Hubert Turpin and Estell Turpin, both of Harrodsburg. He was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Turpin. 

Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 18, at Stith Funeral Home in Danville with Rev. Buddy Turpin and Rev. Wayne Stevens officiating. Burial was in the Hustonville Cemetery.

Janie Ellen Vanhook, 77, Britthaven Nursing & Rehabilitation, formerly of the Elrod Community passed away Tuesday, November 9th, 2004 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, Somerset, Kentucky.

She was born March 27th, 1927 in Walnut Grove, Kentucky, daughter of the late William Poynter and Losey Mae Debord Poynter. She was a homemaker and a member of Sunnyside Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband; Bennie Clyde Vanhook, whom she married on September 23, 1943 in Somerset, Kentucky: two sons; Hershel David (and Linda) Vanhook, Elrod Community and James Everett (and Twila) Vanhook, Bobtown Community: two daughters; Joyce (and James) Alexander, White Lily Community and Jean (and Robert) Saylor, Goshen, Ohio: two brothers; Dewey and Everett Poynter, both of Somerset, Kentucky: four sisters; Calla Anne Poynter, Greenwood Community, Kathleen Stigall, Somerset, Kentucky, Maggie Brown, West Chester, Ohio and Hazel Head, Somerset, Kentucky: 9 grandchildren; Jessica Cook, Sean Vanhook, Byron Vanhook, Kacey Vanhook, Tracey Wiley, Theresa Kiser, Jamie Cain, Jennifer Wittmeyer, and Janette Peckinpaugh: 8 great grandchildren; Brianna Cook, Mariah Cook, Austin Wiley, Tara Wilburn, Taylor Kiser, Alex Cain, Aislyn Cain and Logan Wittmeyer: one niece; Wanda Holt: one nephew; Bill Vanhook: special friend; Dan Porter.

She was preceded in death by her parents: one brother; Willie David Poynter: one sister; Mary Hudson.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 12th, 2004 at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Brother Gerald Ashley officiating. Burial will be in Mt Pleasant Cemetery,. She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Union Baptist Church in Stanford. She was the widow of Vonnie Wilkerson.

Survivors include a son, Joe Cecil Masterson of Stanford; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Services will be noon Saturday at Stanford First Baptist Church by the Rev. William H. Ewing. Burial will be in Barrows Hill Cemetery, Stanford.
