Lloyd Dean ABBEY, 88, of 5935 McCormack Church Road died Friday at James B. Haggin Memorial 
Hospital in Harrodsburg , Mercer County, Kentucky .

Born June 13, 1904, in Hornby, New York, he was a son of the late George and Alma Schuyler 
Abbey.

A retired sheet metal worker, he was a member of Local Union 274 of Santa Barbara, California, 
and a member of McCormack Christian Church in Stanford, Lincoln County, Kentucky.

Survivors include his wife, Lucretia Keck Abbey; six daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Marion) Cortright 
of Eagle, Idaho, Mrs. Robert (Shirley)Bement of Ventura, Ventura County, California, Mrs. Warren 
(Jean) Anderson, of Anderson, Shasta County, California, Mrs. Harold (Joan) Gochenouer of 
LaHabra, California, Mrs. Johann (Linda) of Saratoga, Santa Clara County, California, and Mrs. 
George (Sandra) Martin of Stanford Lincoln County, Kentucky; 21 grandchildren; and 26 
great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Monday, 14 June, 1992 at Fox Funeral Home, Stanford Lincoln 
County, Kentucky, by Brother Edgar Yates. Cremation will follow.

Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Monday until time for service at the funeral home.

formerly of Eubank, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, 7/28/2001 at 
Friendship Old Regular Baptist Church. Burial will be in 
Friendship Church Cemetery. She died Wednesday 7/25/2001
at Mountain View nursing home in Elkhorn. 
Born Nov. 3. 1913, in Letcher County, she was a daughter of 
the late Henry C. and Nancy J. Fields Whitaker. She was the 
widow of Cro Adams.
Survivors include a son, Allen Keith Adams of Jeremiah; a 
daughter, Angeletta Adams of Pikeville; a sister, Roma Brock 
of Eubank; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three daughters, Delores Adams, 
Lenora Jones and Barbara Adams.
Visitation is 7-9 p.m. today at Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home 
and after noon Saturday at the church.

STANFORD -- Services for Mary Louise "Leecy" Woods Adams, 96, of 
Stanford will be 2 p.m. Friday at Spurlin Funeral Home by the Rev. 
Kerry Jones. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
She died Sunday at Stanford House nursing home.
Born Oct. 10, 1905, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late 
James H. and Sophie McCormack Woods. She was a food service manager, 
member of Hubble Homemakers Club and McCormack's Church Committee, and 
had served as a regent for the Logan-Whitley Chapter of Daughters of 
the American Revolution. 
Survivors include two sons, John M. Adams of Ashland and Jim W. Adams 
of Stanford; two daughters, Peggy Adams of Princeton and Kathryn Tomko 
of Fairfield, Calif.; a sister, Susan Fisher Spoonamore of Stanford; 11 
grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and four 
great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Michael, Joe and Jim Adams Jr., Bob and Mark 
Sandidge, and Tim M. Tomko. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Fox, Eph 
Helton, Jim Simpson, Jack Spadaro, George and Jim Spoonamore, Tim J. 
Tomko and Charles Thompson.

Brodhead will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Crossroads Assembly of 
God by Michael Carr. She died Friday. Born Sept. 27, 1952, 
in Louisville, she was the daughter of Charles F. and Faye 
Jenkins Carr. She was a licensed practical nurse and a member 
of West Brodhead Church of God.
Survivors include a son, Ernest Moberly of Brodhead; a daughter, 
Latina T. Schneider of Deland, Ill.; four brothers, Frank Car of 
Ashland, Michael Carr of Hilton Head, S.C., Chris Carr of Little 
Rock, Ark., and Jeff Carr of Brodhead; a sister, Patty Asher of 
Brodhead; and two grandchildren.

She died Thursday at Fort Logan Hospital. 
Born July 16, 1921, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late 
Luther and Belle Givens. She was a homemaker, a member of Boneyville 
Baptist Church, and the widow of Preston Alcorn.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Suter of Stanford and 
Priscilla Brown of Lexington; a brother, Flem Givens of Cincinnati; 15 
grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. 
Pallbearers will be Anthony, Brandon, Greg and Jerome Alcorn, Tommy 
Brown Jr. and Julion Suter.
Honorary pallbearers are Steve Alcorn, J.T. Gooch, Theodore Simpson, 
and Clifton and Lovenzo Suter.

John R. and Maggie Buchanan Russell. She was a homemaker, a Baptist and 
the widow of Charles E. Alexander.
Survivors include her son, Roger Alexander of Wharton; a sister, Ruth 
Kurtz of Glendora, Calif.; four grandchildren; and five 
great-grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. today at Wharton Funeral Home by the Rev. Bill

George Washington ALLEN, 82, a Lincoln Heights, Ohio resident, died of a blood clot, on 
Tuesday, August 30, 2005, at The Christ Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio.

Born in Mount Salem, Kentucky in Lincoln County, Kentucky. He moved to Lincoln Heights, 
Ohio with his family at the age of 7 and graduated from Hartwell High School.

He was drafted into the Army during World War II and was a corporal in the all-black 537th 
Quartermaster Service Company and was stationed in France when U.S. forces fought the Battle of 
the Bulge in the Ardennes Forest at the end of 1944. His job had been loading supply trucks 
bound for the front. Because of the shortage of fighting men in early 1945, caused by the 
deaths of 14,000 white soldiers at the Battle of the Bulge and despite misgivings by the 
Roosevelt administration--a call went out among the black units for volunteers to enter combat.

Mr. Allen raised his hand and was one of around 4,000 black troops who volunteered for 
combat duty. After a month of training in France, he was sent to the front. The Army stripped 
him of his corporal stripes and sent him to battle with the rank of private. He and about 40 
other black soldiers joined the C Company, 2nd Division, 9th Infantry Regiment. They were put 
in their own platoon called the X-Platoon, which stood for experimental platoon. X platoon 
pushed its way through the Rhineland into central Germany and battled the retreating German army 
at Leipzig. They were transferred to General George Patton's, 3rd Army, and went to newly 
liberated Czechoslovakia, where they were hailed as heroes.

"They thought we (blacks) weren't good for anything, but driving trucks and lifting boxes, 
We showed they were wrong". For his actions Mr. Allen received the Bronze Star. Last year 
(2004), he traveled to Washington D.C., on the day the WWII Memorial was dedicated.

Mr. Allen returned to Cincinnati after the war, married and raised a family. He attended 
tailoring school and went to work as a carpenter for Philip Carey Manufacturing Company in 
Lockland, Ohio, retiring from its successor company - Celotex Corporation in 1989.

"He was a great man", said his son, Garry Allen of the Walnut Hills section of Cincinnati.
Mr. Allen enjoyed woodworking, reading and was a NASCAR fan.

Survived by: Wife of 59 years, Marian ALLEN; daughters, Linda HOLMES of Mount Vernon, N.Y., 
Susan BROWN of Fort Washington, Md; son, Garry Allen of Cincinnati, Ohio; sisters, Evelyn MINOR 
of the Hyde Park section of Cincinnati and Florence HARPER and Louise WILLIAMS, both of Lincoln 
Heights, Ohio; a brother, Donald Allen of Trenton, N.J.; six grandchildren and five 
great-grandchildren.

Visitation is 9-10:45 A.M., Saturday, September 3, 2005, at St. Simon of Cyrene Episcopal 
Church, 810 Matthews Drive in Lincoln Heights, Ohio. An American Legion ceremony is at 10:45 
A.M., followed by the funeral at ll:00 A.M. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in 
Springdale, Ohio.

of Crab Orchard, died Tuesday in Pekin, Ind.
Born April 1, 1915, in Leland, Miss., she was the daughter of the late 
R.E. and Ludie Jackson. She was a member of Crab Orchard Baptist 
Church.
Survivors include three sons, Cecil E. Allen Jr. of Washington, D.C., 
Jesse B. Allen of Albuquerque, N.M., and Marvin E. Allen of Lanesville, 
Ind.; three brothers, Clayton Jackson of Cincinnati, Ohio, Melvin 
Jackson of Naples, Fla., and Herman Jackson of Salem, Ind.; a sister, 
Ludie Middleton of Marion, Ohio; seven grandchildren; 14

Born Aug. 21, 1919, in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late

Asbury Burns; a brother, Carl Goode of Casey County; a sister, Auby 
Goode Crawford of Casey County; and a grandchild. She was preceded in 
death by a grandchild.

Dr. R. Quin Bailey

Dr. Quin Bailey of Danville, who practiced medicine for almost 30 
years, died Sunday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center after a 
long illness. He was 60.
Friends and associates praised his work with the high school athletics 
programs and his concern for the safety of the young players.
Bailey was instrumental in starting statewide medical symposiums for 
high school coaches that are now mandatory. His work with a committee 
formed in conjunction with the Kentucky High School Athletic 
Association helped make high school sports safer for all athletes and 
helped educate coaches on ways to not only detect injuries but also on 
how to prevent them. Bailey was recognized earlier this year by the 
organization when he received the Bob Miller Outstanding Service Award. 
KHSAA Commissioner Julian Tackett praised Bailey for his work to 
improve the health of student athletes.
"Every involvement he ever had with us was for the betterment of 
students in Kentucky. His honest and direct intentions will be missed," 
said Tackett. "He was much more than a doctor. He was a real friend to 
the association."
When Bailey stepped down as doctor for the Danville teams, Tackett said 
Bailey was "not only a pioneer, but he was a leader. He was the 
minority opinion on many issues. He was never bashful about it. Most of 
the time, he was proven to be right, too." 
Bailey began practicing medicine in Danville with Dr. Charles Sisk and 
Dr. John Baird and continued his practice until he became ill. 
A "true humanitarian and very caring person" is the way Sam Harp, 
Danville High School football coach, described his friend. "The things 
he did behind the scenes for the Danville football and athletic 
programs will be missed," said Harp.
Sisk, who welcomed Bailey to his practice when he graduated from the 
University of Kentucky Medical School, said Bailey was a good physician 
who had a great interest in the youth of the community.
"He gave much of his time for ensuring safety for young athletes, 
especially football and basketball," said Sisk. "He was a real good 
friend and I'm so hurt by the fact we had to lose him."
Sisk said he was impressed with how Bailey fought his illness. "He will 
be a great loss to the community."
Born June 10, 1941, in Louisville, he was the son of the late Edward M. 
and Elizabeth Hutcherson Bailey. 
He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church where he had 
served as chairman of the board and a lay leader. 
He was a member of Bible Study Fellowship.
He was a graduate of Asbury College and a 1969 graduate of the 
University of Kentucky College of Medicine. 
He was former chief of staff at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical 
Center. 
He was a Fellow in the American Academy of Family Practice, a member of 
the Kentucky Medical Association and University of Kentucky Medical 
Alumni Association, and was recently appointed to the UK College of 
Medicine Dean's Advisory Council. 
He had served as chairman of the Kentucky Sports Medicine Committee for 
27 years and was active in teaching medical students from UK and 
University of Louisville.
He was the Danville High School football team physician for 30 years 
and received the 2001 Outstanding Service Award from the Kentucky High 
School Coaches Association for his dedication to the safety of high 
school athletes. 
He was the newly elected president for McDowell Home Health Agency and 
was a board member of Heritage Hospice.
Survivors include his wife, Connie Woolums Bailey; a son, Dr. Jonathan 
Bailey of Greenville, S.C.; a daughter, Jennifer Pierson of Norfolk, 
Va.; his stepmother, Pauline Bailey of Danville; a stepbrother, Ed 
Coleman of Atlanta, Ga.; and three grandchildren. 
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Centenary United Methodist Church 
by the Revs. Harold Brooks and Quenton Scholtz. 
Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home and 
after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

He was a retired diesel mechanic for Wilson Freight Co. in Cincinnati 
and belonged to the Teamsters Local Union 100. 
He also had been a volunteer with the Baptist Disaster Relief home 
building projects. He was the widower of Marietta Denney Baker. 
Survivors include three sons, Jimmy Baker of Hebron, Gary Baker of 
Cincinnati and Dennie Baker of Hamilton, Ohio; two daughters, Glenda 
Dewald of Cincinnati and Roxetta Ball of Fairfield, Ohio; two sisters, 
Viola Dyehouse of Crab Orchard and Pauline Crays of Louisville; 11 
grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, William "Butch" Baker.

Born Aug. 29, 1927, in Wise County, Va., he was the son of the late 
Robert and Laura F. Sturgill Barker. He was a Baptist, a retired 
self-employed truck driver, and an Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Zelma Hood Barker of Crab Orchard; a

Regional Medical Center.
Born July 20, 1925, in Pleasant Hill, Mo., she was the daughter of the 
late Floyd and Mayme Mitts Johnson. 
Survivors include her husband, Carlyle "Bud" Barnard; a son, Greg 
Barnard of Danville; a daughter, Robin Barnard of Kansas City, Mo.; and 
three grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at First Christian Church. Burial

Obituary - Death of a Good Woman. Mrs. Elizabeth Barnett, aged 73, died
at the home of her daughter near Dudderar's Mill Sunday of heart trouble. 
She was the wife of the late Judge Willis Barnett. She lived most of her
life at Rowland. She was buried at the Buffalo cemetery Monday afternoon
after services at the home of her daughter by J. C. McClary.
Reference: Undated newspaper clipping from an unknown Lincoln County
paper tucked (away safely in a family bible in the possession of a
cousin).

BARNETT. - Mrs. Nannie Barnett, wife of Dawson Barnett, died at the
home of her father, Mr. J. H. Wren, Wednesday and was buried in Buffalo
cemetery at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon.  Besides the husband, she
leaves two little children.  Mrs. Barnett was a devout member of the
Methodist church.  Dropsy of the heart caused her death.

Born April 23, 1913, in Green County, she was a daughter of late James and Mary Bell Asbury. She 
was a homemaker and a member of Stanford Baptist Church. She was a member of Gideon 
International Auxiliary and a former member of Daughters of the American Revolution. She was the 
widow of Marvin M. Bastin. 

Survivors include two sons, Michael Bastin of Stanford and Randy Bastin of Falmouth; four 
daughters, Shirley Seube of Glasgow, Van Munford and Judy Whitaker, both of Stanford, and Doris 
Pardee of Harrodsburg; two sisters, Kathryn Jones of Buffalo, Ky., and Norma Jewell of

Born March 20, 1941, in Virgie, he was the son of the late Jessie and 
Irene Burke Bates. He was a steel mill manager and an Army veteran of 
the Vietnam war. 
Survivors include his wife, Janice L. Bates; a son, Thomas J. Bates of 
San Diego, Calif.; a daughter, Lisa E. Bates of Taylor, Mich.; and a 
brother, Ronald L. Bates of Cookville, Tenn.

Mrs. Thomas Benedict died at her home near Moreland (Oct.13, 1902)

A Notorious Character.
Ogden Bridgewater, one of the most notorious men in the neighborhood of Stanford, Ky., dropped 
dead the other night [August 1893] of heart disease. He was a brother of Col. Jim Bridgewater, who 
commanded a regiment of home guards, and after the war had trouble with the citizens of the 
Stanford neighborhood who sympathized with the lost cause. The colonel was himself killed [18 July 
1867] by Walter Saunders. Saunders was afterwards elected sheriff. Ogden was for years the head of 
a band of robbers who terrorized Lincoln county and robbed indiscriminately. A large reward caused 
him to be hunted, and he was finally captured by Marshal Gallagher of Harrodsburg with a wagon 
load of boodie. Gallagher had to shoot him, the ball taking effect in his jaw, breaking the bone so that 
it had to be taken out. Bridgewater was lodged in jail at Stanford, and for a long time subsisted on 
soup through a quill, and his tremendous frame was reduced almost to a skeleton. His appearance 
touched the hearts of the jury, and he was let off with a short term in the penitentiary. After serving it 
he returned to Lincoln county, and, professing religion, began to lead a new life, taking great interest 
in religious and Sunday-school matters.
NOTE: "Ogden" was Augburn "Og" Bridgewater, born about 1827 in Virginia. He and James H. 
Bridgewater were sons of Henry Bridgewater and Mary Franklin, who were married in Chesterfield 
Co., Virginia, and removed to Halifax Co., Virginia, then Pulaski Co., Virginia, and later to Lincoln Co., 
Kentucky. Augburn was married 15 August 1851 in Lincoln Co., Kentucky, to Emeline Shackleford.

Street died Thursday at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
Born Nov. 13, 1928, in Indiana, she was the daughter of the 
late William A. and Jewell M. Price Lunsford. 
Bunch served on the Crab Orchard City Commission before going 
on to serve two terms as mayor. "She was a wonderful person and 
a concerned mayor," said Shirley Harris, former Crab Orchard 
city clerk. "She cared a great deal about this town during and 
after her years as mayor." 
She was the widow of Elmer Bunch Jr. 
Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis Underwood of Lancaster 
and Connie Kidwell of Crab Orchard; a son, Joe Bunch of Crab

CAUDILL, Ralph K. (Kenton) SUPREME SACRIFICE PAID BY CAUDILL BOY; ARMY SAYS "PRESUMABLY 
DEAD" Missing since November 27, 1950, Sgt. Ralph K. Caudill, son of Mr. And Mrs. 
James E. Caudill Route 1, Waynesburg, has been classed "presumably dead" in a letter 
from the Army Adjutant General. "Full consideration has been given to all information 
bearing on the absence, including all records, reports and circumstances of your son", 
the letter said. Sgt. Caudill was reported seriously wounded in January of 1951 and 
reported missing in March of 1951. No word has been received by his parents since 
then. 

He attended Highland High and went into the army when 17 years old. His basic training 
was taken at Camp Breckenridge and was a Sergeant in the Infantry when reported 
missing. He attended Fairview Baptist Church at Hall's Gap and was a popular boy in 
the high school he attended. He was born in 1931. Other children and relatives of the 
bereaved parents are three brothers, Watson Caudill, Dayton; Jim Caudill, Waynesburg 
and Charlie Caudill, Cincinnati; three sisters, Mrs. Ray Jenkins, Waynesburg; Mrs. 
Lonzo McGuffey, Dayton and Miss Dixie Caudill at home and grandparents, Mrs. Leona 
Truller, Isom, KY and J. D. Hale, Red Fox, KY. The Army said in the letter that he was 
presumed dead as of December 31, 1953. Mr. And Mrs. Caudill have given the supreme 
sacrifice as well as their son for this country. Our sympathy is extended and we speak

Mrs. Lily Clarkson, 69, passed away on August 18, 2005 in Yuma. She was born in Crab Orchard, 

Kentucky on March 31, 1936. She was a devoted nurse at Palm View Rehabilitation in Yuma and a 
member of Abundant Life Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Dexter and Elaine Webb, both of Bakersfield, Calif.; 
granddaughter, Suzanne Arballo of Oakland Calif.; grandsons, Jeremy Edsmon and Eddie Carrillo, 
both of Bakersfied, Calif.; grandchildren, Sylvia, Bon and Rachel Clarkson, of Oklahoma; and 
step-son Doug (Nadine) Peterson, of Prescott, Ariz.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Clarkson; daughter, Ellen Skaggs; granddaughter, 
Christy Skaggs and son, Bobby Clarkson.

Mrs Hattie Cleffman, age 67, of Route 1, Waynesburg, died January 5 at a London 
hospital following a short illness.

She was a native of Lincoln County and had lived here most of her life. She was a 
member of the Radio Church of God, Lexington.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs Lillian Shoemaker, Cuba, Missouri, eight

WAYNESBURG -- Services for Guy W. Coffey Sr., 89, of Tampa, Fla., 
formerly of Waynesburg, will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Barnett & Demrow 
Funeral Home by Brad King. Burial will be in Double Springs Cemetery. 
He died Sunday in Tampa. 
Born May 14, 1912, in Monticello, he was the son of the late Thomas and 
Lula Barnett Coffey. He was the widower of Evelyn McMullen Coffey. 
Survivors include five daughters, Gertie Stewart, Mamie J. Kirby, 
Margie Coffey and Janet Coffey, all of Tampa, and Sue Keith of Orlando; 
a brother, Warren E. Coffey of Cincinnati; 23 grandchildren; 25 
great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Thursday.

Orville K. Coffman

STANFORD -- Services for Orville Kenneth Coffman, 69, of McKinney will 
be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Spurlin Funeral Home by the Revs. Ed Carman and 
Rick Naylor. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
He died Sunday at Fort Logan Hospital. 
Born Jan 11, 1933, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late 
Thelmur and Martha Austin Coffman. He was retired from Builders Supply 
after 20 years and had worked at Stanford Creamery. He was a member of 
Geneva Community Church.
Survivors include his wife, Violet Snow Coffman; two daughters, Donna 
Yocum of McKinney and Charlotte Long of Hustonville; a brother, Johnny 
Coffman of McKinney; a sister, Elizabeth Carrier of McKinney; and four 
grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Josh and Jeremy Long, Arnie, Joe and Mike Carrier, 
Winfred Coffman and Eddie Brown. Honorary pallbearers are Shane, 
Shelley and Kim Yocum, Lynnette Brown, Dee Dee Stull, Dale Reed, Sherry 
McGuffey and Denise Pike.

CRAB ORCHARD -- Ernest "Tidge" Coldiron, 70, of Walnut Street died 
Saturday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born April 10, 1931, in Lincoln County, he was the son of Judy Neal 
Coldiron of Crab Orchard and the late Jesse E. Coldiron. He was a 
retired farmer and formerly attended the Baptist church.
Other survivors include three sisters, Virginia Mullins and Lena F. 
Palmer, both of Crab Orchard, and Hala M. Benge of Comer, Ga.; two 
brothers, Daniel Coldiron of Nicholasville and George Coldiron of 
Danville.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at McKnight Funeral Home by Dan 
Gutenson. Burial will be in Coldiron Family Cemetery in Turkeytown. 
Pallbearers will be Joshua Shelton, Jerry and Shane Pingleton, Charlie 
Douglas, Darrell Benge and Danny Coldiron.
Honorary pallbearer are Jeff Tucker, Carlos Adams, Doc Hoskins and 
Harold Singleton.

STANFORD -- Farris Coleman, 76, of Martins Court died Saturday at 
Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Danville.
Born April 5, 1925, in Casey County, he was the son of the late Grover 
and Dessie Douglas Coleman. He was a farmer and attended a Pentecostal 
church.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Aline Hodge Coleman; five sons, 
Carlos Coleman, William Coleman, Garland Coleman, James 'Rex" Coleman 
and Benny Coleman, all of Stanford; three daughters, Wilma Rogers, 
Dolly Schimes and Maxie Yocum, all of Stanford; and a sister, Lydia Mae 
Ward of Harrodsburg. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lillian 
Ann Coleman.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Fox Funeral Home by Marvin King. 
Burial will be in Calvary Ridge Cemetery, Casey County.

at his home.

Opal Inez Williams Collier, 76, of Logan Avenue died Saturday at 
Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born April 14, 1925, in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late 
Nathan Noe and Katherine Thomas Williams. She was a former co-owner of 
Collier Carpets and former owner of the Golden Gate Restaurant in 
Garrard County. She was a member of Benton Baptist Church 
Survivors include her husband, Milburn D. Collier; a son, David N. 
"Sonny" Collier of Danville; three daughters, Glenden M. Edwards and 
Doris R. Provence, both of Danville, and Bettie A. Claunch of 
Harrodsburg; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandson.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Stith Funeral Home. Burial will be 
in Bellevue Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Tuesday.

STANFORD -- Ruby Marie Wilson Coontz, 52, of Stanford died Saturday at 
St. Joseph Hospital.
Born June 1, 1949, in Canton, Ga., she was the daughter of the late 
Willard Wilson and Dorothy Oliver Wilson Hale. 
Survivors include her husband, Jackie G. Coontz; a son, Michael Lee 
Saunders of Woodstock, Ga.; two stepsons, Dwight Coontz and Scott 
Holloway, both of Stanford; a stepdaughter, Tisha Russell of Moreland; 
a sister, Martha A. Ayers of Woodstock; and seven grandchildren. She 
was preceded in death by a stepson, Jamie Coontz.
Services are 2 p.m. today at Fox Funeral Home by Ed Carman. Burial will 
be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Ray Franklin, William Hazlett, William Moore, Keith 
Long, Mark Russell and Ricky King. Memorials may go to Heritage Hospice

Services for the Rev. Moses Coulter, 86, of Harding Street will 
be 1 p.m. Thursday at Church of God of America. Burial will be in 
Hilldale Cemetery.
He died Saturday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. 
Born June 2, 1916, in Boyle County, he was a son of Moses and 
Celie Coulter. He was a retired minister at Danville Holiness 
Church of God and had been a security guard at Jackson Chair 
Co.
Survivors include his wife, Susie B. Coulter; a son, Leonard 
Coulter of Louisville; a daughter, Lizzie Coulter Hale of Danville; 
a sister, Aggie Lancaster of Danville; 12 grandchildren; and several 
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four sons, Moses Coulter III, Chester 
Coulter, James Coulter and Ralph Coulter.
Visitation will be noon Thursday until time of services at the 
church.
Smith-Jackson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

MORELAND -- J. Lewis Cox, 94, of the Rocky Ford community died Sunday 
at Casey County Hospital.
Born Sept. 26, 1907, in Casey County, he was the son of the late John 
W. and Nora Bell Coffman Cox. He was a farmer and a member of Rocky 
Ford Masonic Lodge 765 for 60 years. He was a member of the Casey 
County school board for 24 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, 
Esther Marie Cox.
Survivors include two sons, Harold Cox of Bradfordsville and John Cox 
of Hustonville; three daughters, Nellie Beard of Columbia, Faye White 
of Liberty and Connie Reed of Hustonville; six grandchildren; and seven 
great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. 
Johnny Friend. Burial will be in Tapscott Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Troy and Chris Beard, Shannon White, Tyler Cox, 
Craig Griffin and Bill Myers.

Born March 16, 1930, in Boyle County, he was the son of the late Ollie 
and Seney Rice Cox.

Karen Pahl of Alum Springs and Jane G. Smith of Nicholasville; three 
sons, Dennis Cox of Danville, Billy Gene Cox of Alum Springs and

great-grandchild.

SPRINGFIELD -- Woodsie Lee Coyle, 84, of Bardstown Road died Friday at Norton Spring View Hospital, Lebanon.
Born May 21, 1917, in Washington County, he was a son of the late Martin and Clyda Ethel Coyle. He was 
a member of Temple Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, a 50-year member of Springfield Masonic 
Lodge No. 50, F&amp;AM, a graduate of Perryville High School and attended the University of Kentucky.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Brown Coyle; two daughters, Barbara Ann Hale of Springfield and Beverly 
Casper of LaGrange; two stepsons, Gene Brown and Willard Brown, both of Bardstown; two brothers, J.C. 
Coyle and Walter Coyle, both of Perryville; four sisters, Nina Coyle, Lorys Edwards and Vanetta Bishop, all 
of Louisville, and Laverne Cooksey of Mount Sterling; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was 
preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Reynolds Coyle, and a daughter, Brenda Arlene Coyle. 
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Temple Baptist Church by the Revs. John McDaniel and David Simpson. Burial will be in 
Hillcrest Cemetery, Perryville.

PERRYVILLE -- Kathryn Roller Cram, 78, of Mitchellsburg, 
died Saturday August 4, 2001 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical 
Center. 
Born April 24, 1923, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter 
of the late Jesse and Sally Lamb Roller. She was preceded 
in death by two daughters, Carol Negri and Mary Husk.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Cram; two sons, 
Chester Shirrell of Mitchellsburg and Terry Shirrell of 
Indianapolis; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great-
grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wilder Funeral Home by 
the Revs. Gary Webster and Larry Moore. Burial will be in 
Parksville Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Monday and after 8 a.m. Tuesday
