Hello Folks!!! There's a new Sheriff in town, my name is Darren Waters. I'm a Waters, Kidd, Stephens, & Troxell Researcher...My Grandpa Waters and Grandpa Stephens were both of McCreary County...Grandpa Waters was a coal miner and served in WW2, he was Dan Waters Jr..Grandpa Stephens was Raymond Stephens aka "Pig" Stephens, he was the County Coroner in McCreary for 20+ years.  I am here with you now and have great plans to take this site to much higher levels.

With your help we can make this the most informative site on McCreary County History that there is. I am also CC for Pulaski County KyGenWeb so I have some help for those of you with those Pulaski/McCreary roots. We have all thought many times "if only I would have talked to grandma and grandpa about our family history, I wouldn't have to look so hard to find my genealogical answers". This place can be our way of breaking that cycle. We can leave our stories and family info here for generations to come. We were all young one day, and we all know youngin's are too busy growin up to stop and learn about our history. This is a way we can pass those stories to them, when they hit their forties...;)..And someday they will say..."Wow, look what grandma and grandpa left here for me".

The big secret to making this site shine is sharing. Please share your stories, photo's and documents with us. I will make sure they get on the site, and I will make sure your name gets on there as the contributing source.

Now let's get to work on making sure our descendant's dont have to face those brick walls we are. Speaking of brick walls, let's start busting them down together....Thanks and enjoy the new changes to come, I will work very hard to make things turn around soon.

On the the list of people that were hung, there are 3 names missing according to the Henry County KY newspaper and the Richard Shuck deposition.  Robert Goodrich, Samuel Goodrich and Joseph Goodrich were hung also White, for robbery-murder, 27 July 1877 it appears that the people of the town broke them out of jail and hung them from Drennon Bridge.
