THIS IS AN ABSTRACT OF THE APPLICATION FOR PENSION - - - JAMES AUSTIN - VIRGINIA 
The above named soldier was living in the county of Oldham, state of Kentucky, when he applied 
for pension on the date of September 19, 1828. 
He enlisted in the county of Fauquier, state of Virginia, in 1775.
He lived in LaGrange, Kentucky.  He died in October 19, 1845.  His widow, Elizabeth Austin, whose maiden name was Elizabeth Lindsey applied for pension in the county of Jefferson, state of Kentucky, date of Nov. 20, 1846.  They were married in the state of Virginia, county of Fauquier, date of November 3. 1784.  

The affidavit of a fellow soldier who served with Austin, by the name of John Allen, was made in the county of Woodford, state of Kentucky, date of August 11, 1829.  He was with Austin in Morgan's Rifle Regiment.

Richard Barbour made affidavit in 1839 in Oldham County, that Jesse Wilhoyte came to his house sometime in 1822 and made affidavit as to Austin's services in the war, Barbour being at the time a Justice of the Peace for the county of Jefferson, Kentucky.

Henry Browning made affidavit in Henry County, Kentucky, November 18, 1846, that in the fall of the year 1784 John Austin and Elizabeth Lindsey (who was Browning's half-sister) left the house of the mother of Browning in order to be married at the neighboring church.

Names of children of Austin:    Daniel Austin, aged 52 in May 1850.  William Austin, nine years older than Daniel.   Lucy Austin, seven years older than Daniel.   James Austin, four and one half years older than Daniel.  John Austin, two years older than Daniel.
