Chase Anthony Crowley, three days old, son of Monica Lynn and Kyle Anthony Crowley of Highland Heights, passed away at 6:50 p.m. Sunday, April 20, at Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Cincinnati.
Other survivors include grandparents, J. C. and Myra Jane Crowley of Grant’s Lick and Bernard and Evelyn Verst of Cold Spring. Baby Chase also left many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Mass of Christian burial was held Tuesday, April 22 at St. Joseph Church in Cold Spring.
Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Alexandria.
Alexandria Funeral Home handled the arrangements.


Donald Howard Ellis, 70, of Falmouth, passed away Friday, May 2, 2003 at home.
He was born on Sunday, July 24, 1932 in Bracken County, son of the late Howard and Viola Curtis Ellis. He was a computer technician for the Internal Revenue Service and retired from there after 17 years of service. He was a member of the Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Taylor Mill.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Ellis; son, Ronald Ellis of Falmouth and Donald R. Ellis of Williamstown; a daughter, Karen Moody of Independence; a brother, Darrell Ellis of Harrison, Ohio; a sister, Lucille Nolan of Cincinnati, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Sunday, May 4 at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home in Williamstown with Rev. Jay Holt officiating.
Interment was in the Jonesville IOOF Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Hospice of Hope in Maysville.


Erma Adams, 72, of Butler, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2003 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.
She was born in Minden, West Virginia on October 11, 1930, daughter of the late George and Stella Pitman Johnson. She was a homemaker and a member of the Nazarene Church of Winchester.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Adams on July 28, 1993, a brother, Robert Johnson in 1988 and a sister, Billy O’Malley.
Survivors include sons, Thomas Adam and James Adams, both of Butler; daughters, Florence Roberts and Brenda Teegarden, both of Butler, Eva Barber of Dry Ridge, Velma Johnson and Ethel Morrison, both of Cincinnati, Ohio and Stella Richardson of Falmouth; brothers, Richard Johnson of Cincinnati, Ohio and William Gross of Danville; 31 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday, May 7 at Peoples Funeral Home in Falmouth. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 8 at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth.


Homer Ray Richie Jr., 70, of Corinth, passed away May 3, 2003 at his home.
He was born on February 19, 1933 in Lexington. He was a member of the Corinth Baptist Church, Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a six year veteran of the United States Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his father, Homer Richie and a sister, Dorothy Richie.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Barb Richie; three sisters, Alice Anna Connor of Forrest City, North Carolina, Mary Elizabeth Wilson of Corinth and Sue Dickerson of Nicholasville; three brothers, Lee Richie of Versailles, Thomas Richie of Williamsburg and David Richie of Berry; and his mother, Nora True of Corinth.
Graveside services will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 13 at the Raven Creek Cemetery in Harrison County. Bro. Robert Sain of Corinth Baptist will officiate.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, Cynthiana.


Kathleen Moore Hamilton, 90, of Brooksville, passed away Monday, April 28, 2003 at Meadowview Regional Hospital in Maysville.
Kathleen was born on March 6, 1913, daughter of the late William Moore and Nellie Hutchinson. She was a retired circuit clerk for the Bracken County Circuit Court Clerk’s office. She was a member of the Brooksville Christian Church, where she was the oldest member. She was also a member of the Bracken County Homemakers and Order of the Eastern Star. She married Carlyn Hamilton on December 8, 1945, and he preceded her in death on April 18, 1980.
Survivors include a foster daughter, Sandy (Tom) King Campbell and a foster granddaughter, Misty Campbell, all of Paris, Ky.; a sibling, Willette Booker of St. Simons Island, Ga.; one nephew, Richard Wentworth of Jacksonsville, Florida; close friends, Leslie and Betty Newman of Brooksville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Thursday, May 1 at Moore & Parker Funeral Home in Brooksville.
Interment was in the Brooksville Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Brooksville Christian Church.


Mary Miller Strode, 76, of Augusta, passed away Monday, April 21, 2003 at Augusta Health Care.
She was born in Fleming County on November 15, 1926, daughter of the late Aaron and Sarah Lane Dye Miller. She was a homemaker and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary in Maysville. She married Gilbert Sherman Strode on March 4, 1948, who preceded her in death on May 3, 1993. Also preceding her in death were two sisters, Hattie Lee Story and Christine Davis.
Survivors include children, Brenda (Ron) Snapp of Dover, Sarah (Michael) McKenzie, Jessie Stitt and Sharon Gilbert, all of Augusta and Gilbert Sherman Strode Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Robert Miller and Aaron Miller Jr., both of Flemingsburg; a sister, and Lyda Mae Flora of Flemingsburg.
Funeral services were Wednesay, April 23 at Moore & Parker Funeral Home in Brooksville.
Interment was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Augusta.


Maurice Dempsey Earle, 83, of Berry, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2003 at the VA Medical Center in Lexington.
He was born on August 23, 1919 in Berry, son of the late Kelly Earle Sr. and Katura Gardner Earle. He was a retired probation and parole officer for the state of Kentucky. Mr. Earle was a veteran of the United States Army in World War II and a member of the Berry Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Pythias.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Lois Burgess Earle, a brother, Herschel Earle and a sister, Mary Horesik.
He is survived by two sons, Ronnie (Cindy) Earle of Cynthiana and Kenny (Pam) Earle of Berry; a stepson, Charles (Jane Ann) Burgess of Berry; three siblings, Kelly Earle Jr. of Berry, Jean Kersh of Dayton, Ohio and Marjorie Pierce of Cynthiana; and two stepgrandchildren.
Funeral services were Saturday, May 3 at Woodhead Funeral Home in Berry, under the direction of Rev. Larry Jones. Music was shared by Anna and Coolidge Cason. Serving as pallbearers were Ronnie Spicer, Glenn Scott, Billy Hatfield, Dr. Gary Earle, George Pierce, Robert Pierce, Ewell Pierce Jr. and Frank Kersh. Honorary pallbearers were Robert McGinnis, Steve Medlin, Jim Strong, Bill Burden, Ed Miller, Dr. Don Stephens, John Swinford and Edward Milner.
Interment was in the Pythian Grove Cemetery, Berry.
Memorials are suggested to the Berry Methodist Church or to the charity of one’s choice.


Ruth Elizabeth Bladen Haltman, 84, of Williamstown, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2003 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North Hospice Unit in Covington.
She was a homemaker and was of the Methodist faith. She was preceded in death by three stepsons, Oscar Haltman, Thomas Haltman and James Haltman; a stepdaughter, Emma Vance; and three brothers, Herbert Bladen, John Bladen and Ronald Bladen.
Survivors include a son, Larry Haltman of Guthrie, Okla.; daughters, Violet Sharpe of Falmouth, Loleta Mitchell of Williamstown and Joyce Martin of Cincinnati, Ohio; stepdaughter, Mary Yates of Fremont, Nebraska; brothers, Frank Bladen of Ghent, Ky. and Charles Bladen of Mt. Eagle, Tennessee; sisters, Edna Bladen of Veevay, Indiana, Stelma Johnson of Ghent, Ky. and Della Miller of Tennessee; 13 grandchildren; 16 stepgrandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchilden.
Graveside services were Friday, May 2 at the Williamstown Cemetery.
Eckler-Hudson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.


Wesley Benage Jenkins, 74, of Falmouth, passed away May 2, 2003 at the River Valley Nursing Home in Butler.
He was born on June 20, 1928 in Pendleton County. He was a retired farmer, milk truck driver and employee of the former IGA supermarket in Falmouth. He was a deacon and member of the Turner Ridge Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Army in the Korean Conflict. He was also active in the ASC office.
He leaves his wife of 51 years, Ruth Evelyn Klaber Jenkins; a son, Dennis Wayne (Kim) Jenkins of Falmouth; two daughters, Pamela Charlene (Danny) Duncan of Falmouth and Connie Rae (Wayne) Biddle, also of Falmouth; two sisters, Carletta Gallagher and Christine Lovelace, both of Falmouth; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday, May 5 at Turner Ridge Baptist Church with Bro. Fred Workman officiating. Music was shared by Matthew Sorrell. The piano was played by Sandra Gabbard. Pallbearers for the service were Dennis Jenkins, Brian Jenkins, Rob Duncan, Eric Biddle, Aaron Biddle and Alex Biddle. Honorary pallbearers were deacons of Turner Ridge Baptist Church and friends, Billy King, Herbert York, Winston York, Leslie “Sonny” Bishop, Bruce Gibson and Kenneth Showalter.
Interment was in the Turner Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Hospice of Hope in Maysville or to the Turner Ridge Baptist Church Building Fund.


Caleb Douglas Adams, son of George Callen “Cal” and Krystal Gabhart Adams of DeMossville, was stillborn on May 5, 2003 at the University of Cincinnati Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Marshall Adams, on December 29, 2002.
In addition to his parents, Cal and Krystal Adams, he leaves six aunts, Jan Adams of Butler, Jill Wright of Falmouth, Julie Bowen of Lawrenceburg, Ky., Jennifer Jeffries of Washington, D.C., Bobbi Lynn Schott of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Kasey Gabhart of Mackville, Ky.; two uncles, Doug Adams of Foster and Greg Adams of Batavia, Ohio; maternal grandparents, Bobby and Kathleen Simons Gabhart of Mackville, Ky.; his paternal grandmother, Marjorie Wells Adams of Butler; two great-grandmothers, Delora Simons of Lexington and Ohna Adams of Cynthiana; and several cousins.
Private funeral services were Thursday, May 8 at the Riverside Cemetery in Falmouth with Rev. Richard Collins officiating.
Memorials are suggested to the Gardnersville Baptist Church Building Fund, 3240 Highway 491W, DeMossville, KY 41033.

Lelia Capps “Hester” Spaulding, 95, of Butler, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2003 at River Valley Nursing Home in Butler.
Hester was born in Paris, Ky., on September 12, 1907, daughter of George and Mable (Payne) Capps.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Spaulding; a son, Lloyd “Bud” Spaulding; and stepson, Robert Spaulding; daughters, Pauline Figgins, Neva Reed and Mabel Spaulding; a step-daughter, Wilma House; and brothers, Joe Durham and McClelland Durham.
Survivors include sons, Dwight Spaulding of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Delbert Spaulding of Bellevue, William Spaulding of Venus, Florida and Jim Spaulding of Dale, Indiana; daughters, Margie DiBlasi of Oswego, New York, and Alleen Mapes of Rome City, Indiana; step-daughter, Vivian Lawson of Michigan; a sister, Irene Reams of Orlando, Ky.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from noon until the time of service. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 14 at Peoples Funeral Home in Butler.
Interment will be in the Turner Ridge Cemetery.

Maurice Dempsey Earle, 83, of Berry, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2003 at the VA Medical Center in Lexington.
He was born on August 23, 1919 in Berry, son of the late Kelly Earle Sr. and Katura Gardner Earle. He was a retired probation and parole officer for the state of Kentucky. Rita E. Points, 79, of Falmouth, passed away Thursday, May 8 at the Grant Manor Healthcare Center in Williamstown.
She was born on April 27, 1924 in Pendleton County, daughter of the late James and Virginia Fryer Tomlin. She married William “Willie” Nicholas Points, and her dear husband preceded her in death on March 11, 2003. She was a retired farmer, land owner, sewing factory employee and nurse’s aide.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, John Rollin Tomlin and James Lee Tomlin and two sisters, Ladena Schemmel and Charlotte Pope.
She leaves two sisters, Wynona Wasserboehr and Virginia Lucille Kaplan, both of Falmouth; a brother, Lloyd Elbert Tomlin of Winchester, Ohio; 16 nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Saturday, May 10 at Woodhead Funeral Home in Falmouth with Bro. Ronnie Angell officiating. Pallbearers were Larry Tomlin, Gary Tomlin, Joe Klee, Dennis Tomlin, Rollin Tomlin, and John Kaplan. Music was shared by Adarin Williams.
Interment was in the Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Diabetes Association, the Pendleton County Senior Citizens or to the Hardin-Browning Post 109.


Robert Wellman, 70, of Falmouth, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2003 at his home.
He was born on November 17, 1932 in Mentor, Campbell County, son of the late William and Sallie English Wellman. He married Myrtle Hitch Hodge Wellman in 1989, and his dear wife survives his passing. He was employed by Conrail Systems of Sharonville, Ohio. He faithfully served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Trinity Southern Baptist Church, Falmouth.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Lyda Weaver.
In addition to his wife, Myrtle Wellman, he leaves two step-children, Sam Hodge of Falmouth and Donna Rawlings of Alexandria; and three sisters, Judy Bell and Betty Singer, both of Falmouth and Ruby Delaney of Milford, Ohio.
Graveside services were held Monday, May 12 at the Riverside Cemetery in Falmouth with Bro. Dale Bobb officiating. Military rites were conducted by the Hardin-Browning Post 109.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association, Northern Kentucky Region, 1885 Dixie Highway, Suite 250, Ft. Wright, KY 41011-2625.
