Perry County KYGenWeb The Lexington Herald 18 June 1906 SHINERS CAPTURED AND STILL DESTROYED Marshall Holliday and His Posse Return From a Successful Raid Sergent, KY., June 17-Marshall Holliday, Deputy Collector Sam Collins and posse have just returned here from a moonshine raid through Knott and Perry counties, where they destroyed the bulk of the Fourth of July moonshine supply. Five large, pioneer stills were destroyed on the raid and four prisoners captured. Transferred to London Jail. Yesterday Mrs. Mary Jane Shepherd, the alleged moonshiner, arrested two weeks ago on a charge of moon shining in this county, was transferred to the London prison for safe keeping, as it was rumored around Whitesburg that friends would attempt to release her. She is shortly to be given a trial in the United States District Court for Eastern Kentucky at London.
